Whenever I do a backup of my database, the software freezes up and I have to close it. I have done maintenance on my hard drive but it doesn't help. Is there anything that can be done so that I can successfully backup my main database. Do I have to deactivate it to back it up?

I posted this in the software forum, but I meant to post it here. i apologize for the double post.

But yeah . . ., so far I am unable to backup my database, which means I can't install the update. In fact, whenever I try it seems to not only freeze the software, but slow my whole computer down.

I tried completing the database.
I tried running as an administrator.

Neither helped, Elephant still freezes when I start back up.

Have you tried maintaning Elephant itself? Click on the Elephant in top LH corner.

Then reboot

This solved it for me.

Well, I deactivated the normal database (activated a different one) then backed it up and it seems to have worked. It did not freeze and took about 5 seconds.

Thanks for the reply Andy, I think I will try that as well just to be safe. If I have 2 backups then I have 2 backups. I really, really do not want to lose these hands.

I clicked on the Elephant in the UL corner and the only thing I could find to maintain was the database, which I did. That's what I meant when I said that I completed it.

If you meant something else, though, please let me know. Anyway, I am going to try to deinstall it and install the new update. Hopefully all goes well.
