what's going on witn elephant one more time!!!?????
When I start elephant, I 've got a message "database version has changed but a patch is not possible"; "please create a new database" ......... and eventually " connection to database server lost"
So what does it means ?? Did I lose all my stats for the 18th time???

waiheke i don't know what happend but it seems like you have to create a new database. I'm sorry that should only happen if you use a quiet old database and trying to update to a new version.

My comp crashed whilst importing hands and the same thing happened. I fixed it by completely removing both elephant and postgreSQL (see http://www.pokerstrategy.com/home/752 for a guide to removing it) and reinstalling everything. You lose the database, but you don't lose the hands, since you can just tell the new database to re-import all the hands you want. (And elephant neatly sorts all the hands histories it processes into folders labelled by month, so this is fairly straightforward).

Go to http://www.postgresql.org/ and download it. Write down all the info you fill out and type that in when you create the database in Elephant. There are different usernames and passwords that you create. Try them all, one combo should work (don't remember which one), as it did for me.
