[Closed] Problem installing PostgreSQL

Whenever I go to install it, it comes up with "failed to run initdb: 1! please see logfile in 'C:\ProgramFiles\PostgreSQL\8.3\tmp\initdb.log'. Note! You must Read/Copy this logfile before you click OK, or it will be automatically removed.

Then once I read the logfile and click ok, the PostgreSQL instillation "rolls back" and cancels.

what can I do?

I have the same problem after I formatted my laptop! Could really do with a bit of help on this.

Hello.

Did you try to open the logfile in order to see the content before click 'OK'?

Hi, I have a problem too. When I install PostgrSQL, it comes to about 90% and then says:
" Service 'PostgreSQL......8.3' failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."

I use Windows XP.
