Villain is unkown. Pre, 3bet or call? Flop i raise for protection/ to see where im at. When villain dont shove turn i think we can rule out aces. River K completes many draws but i still think he will have many bluffs here. Ok bluffcatch?

hide results again, no i wouldn't even consider 3betting this hand, it doesn't flop/play well enough imo, esp oop

sizing turn should be bigger as a default, 48 can be ok if you're trying to induce though.

and river: if you check you should definitely call, i think c/c is fine. given that we have 2 8s the chances he has aces up here are quite slim, so we can bluffcatch instead of valuebetting

When you checkraise this flop and get called, one thing should be apparant and that is that villain must have something. What he has isn't always exactly clear but it means that on the turn you should be looking to charge the max (and bet full pot).

If villain has top set, then it's a set up and it doesn't matter how much you lose, stacks should be going into the middle of the pot. However if villain has a hand like A8 or AJ or a nut flush draw then you should be charging the max with a pot bet. Now this may well set up some nasty rivers if he calls, so you could also consider checking the turn...

If you check the turn then villain is often going to represent a set of aces at this point (he flatted your flop checkraise to get you to stack off with a bluff). He may also value bet AJxx now or A8xx thinking that you must be chopping plus he can bet a nut flush draw thinking you are weak and he can get you to fold. At this point you can checkraise all in and not worry about a tough river card. If villain does check behind then tough luck. :f_biggrin:

As for the river, checking is definitely the best play here. Villain calling the flop checkraise says to me a flush draw rather than a straight draw (345x the only possibility). I would also expect his flush draw if he does have one to be a nut draw, so he has a pair on the river, he may value bet 2 pair on the end here like AK so stacks will still go in when he has a hand that would call your river shove.
Checking allows villains busted draws (flush draw and 345x) to try and win the pot where if you shove, you obviously force them all to fold.
