Pushing ranges

Should there be some adjustments when pushing at the same stack size(10BBs and 6 players infront of us for example),when 10 players left, and when 6-7 players left? If the opponents calling ranges are always the same, even if they double up, do we change the pushing ranges when getting more shorthanded(not including the bubble)?

*It should probably be the same, Im just curious if the fact that our chips are now more valuable changes something in our pushing range.

Hi, petersveter!

Good to see you in our forums. To answer your question directly- yes. You are guessing it right- chips have more value when there are few people left as we are close to getting ITM. Therefore, our pushing range will change. Now, tbh, I don't think there is a huge difference between shoving into 6 people or 8-9 people(assuming we play FR SnG) in our ranges. We are still far away from being ITM, so ICM tax is small. The fact that there are less people on the table makes it less likely that we are gonna get called on our shove(usually), so I will add up a few hands. Nothing extreme though.

thanks kurkabin :)

one more thing I've come across today. SnG Wizard- 10 players all have 2000 chips. We are on the CO and the blinds are 200/400. I set the calling ranges for my three opponents all on 15 %, our edge is 0 . Our pushing range is 73,2 %.

Now I will change the blinds to 150/300 and we now have 1500 chips on the CU, where the HI who folded has 2500 now. The calling ranges for our 3 opponents are the same - 15 %, our edge is 0. We have 5 BB ef. stack as in the previous example, but now I can push 85,5% according to SnG Wiz.

Why is it like this? I was thinking maybe SnG Wiz has set the overcalls differently, but I don't know where to check that. What do you think?

Hi again, petersveter!

So, in example number 1, we have 10 players, all with 2k in chips, BBt400?
What do we have in the second example though? How many people are left? What are the stack sizes(not only for the Button and Blinds)?

You can also just post the examples in here, so we can discuss them in details.

Cheers.

EXAMPLE 1: BLINDS 200/400
UTG: t2000
UTG1: t2000
UTG2: t2000
MP1: t2000
MP2: t2000
MP3: t2000
CO(HERO): t2000
BTN: t2000
SB: t2000
BB: t2000

EXAMPLE 2 : BLINDS 150/300
UTG: t2000
UTG1: t2000
UTG2: t2000
MP1: t2000
MP2: t2000
MP3: t2500
CO(HERO): t1500
BTN: t2000
SB: t2000
BB: t2000

We have 5 BBs effective stack in both cases. I set the calling ranges of BTN,SB,BB to 15 % in both cases. In example 1 we should push 73,2 %. , in example 2 we should push 85,5%.

Thats what I mean :)

Hi again!

If we speak for example number 2:

I think that's because we have less chips compared to the rest of the field, therefore we have less tournament equity(in this case), we are the shortest stack and we are super far away from the bubble(almost no ICM tax) so we are willing to make more risky plays. In reality, however, people will be more willing to call us with a slightly wider range in example number too.
