I have reconsidered my take on turbos vs reg tournaments.

Initially regular tournies are the safer bet if your game is fairly straight forward. You see more hands, therefore you have more of a chance to catch better hands and play them.

Turbos are great for ROI and especially when there's a poor talent pool.

In an 18 seater for example, you only need to double up from a donkers shove to get to the final table.

Even if you're tighter than a nun, you can still make the table. BUT once there your chances slim rapidly because you can't cope with the blinds and wide rangers.

Plus consider H/ROI (hourly)

Why play for 1hour + when you can complete a tournament (even 30 seaters) within 45 minutes most often. For every reg game played you lose 15 minutes playing time.

That's an hour every 4 hours and more if you're multitabling.

imo with level of opponents and payout structure all being the same - the non turbo's will allow you to exploit a greater edge postflop. This is assuming you have one.

Everytime you race preflop(or are 60/40 70/30 or even 80/20 etc both ways) you increase variance - not leaving it up to maths and playing postflop is what makes the non turbo's less swingy in general.
