You can lose on purpose in roulette. Just concistently bet on both black and red and eventually you will lose all your chips.

I think that you said try to explain them that the whole game is based on propabilities. Also, another strong point is showing the profit of well known poker player and that they are constanly winning. They can't be that lucky. Last but not least, pick a random hand from your database and explain how a bad player would have played it and how a good player would have played it. Tell them that good players make good folds/value bets etc, while the bad players call a lot with the worst hand and don't value bet properly. If they still believe that poker is based on luck, punch them in the face. But do it really hard. I think this way you can convice them. 
I would empathically listen to the person. Once they influence you, you have way more chances of influencing them. But if you don't listen to them, they'll never listen to you ;).

Well, perhaps they can.
We understand that over the long term, the "luck" balances out, and skill becomes more important.
Your friend, family are relatives very likely think much shorter term. If you sit down to play with Phil Ivey, and flop a boat, he won't win.
Unless, of course he has the quads, in which case it was luck, not skill.
In either outcome, they are likely to see only the luck.
I used to have this discussion about backgammon.
I used to win about 80% of the games, but I never won the argument.
To them, I was just freakin' lucky.

just because you can lose deliberately doesnt mean you can win at the game though
Most of my family are stoners or functioning alcoholics.
Playing poker is practically saintly.
What's more interesting is work - I am a Psychiatric Nurse (addictive personalities are a pre-requisite for this job) who now manages a Nursing Home for people who have dementia.
All the staff know I play poker and it doesn't seem to be an issue - but then most of them have mild-moderate alcoholism and are pretty open about that too.
But, we do care about what we do and work very hard to achieve good outcomes for people.
If I ever become a professional poker player, I think the reaction from those that I know is more likely to be:
"Cool, lend me 5k."
Rather than:
"You are now exorcised from my life, you beastly degenerate."
