Are you moving to the US or planning to stay there for a while and play poker?

i'm gonna stay there just for a while

i guess stars takes your bankroll and bans you if they catch you using a vpn in the usa, right?

All data that passes through a VPN is safe, meaning that no one can intercept it (listening in, tampering with contents). However, playing poker from the US on stars using a VPN (with a VPN server outside of the US obviously) is not necessarily safe.

If you like you bankroll VPN's are not considered safe.

I don't know about the number of accounts that have been banned because of VPN usage.

IMO, don't mess with PokerStars. They have caught several users using a VPN and it has ended in bankroll confiscations and suspensions.

You're decision at the end of the day but I would not personally risk it.

some players played via VPN on Pokerstars during the WSOP last year. I don't know of one single case where the account was not banned temporarily. And temporarily in this case does not mean some days, but half a year. Don't risk it.

It would be one possibility to cash in a small amount on a room still serving US-residents (e.g Cake Poker). But thats a little risky too and you have to know if its worth the risk for you

I wouldn't risk it. If you happen to be disconnected for any reason, PokerStars can catch you in that moment.

Accounts are banned, funds are confiscated. Not worth it imo.

Pokerstars in particular are clamping down on VPN users whilst abroad. I read a whole load about it in on 2p2 in the autumn while in a similar situation.

Lots of players where banned (I don't know how long for) when their VPN dropped and their real IP was momentarily exposed. I decided not to risk it with stars.

I happen to use SwissVPN anyway to guard my computers security (just one cool website about security) and at least for me, if the VPN drops (but not my internet connection) so does my connection to the poker client.

Hope that made sense and although I won't recommend playing Stars while you are in the US I wish you luck if you do.
