Life balance...
I hope this won't come out like a total nonsense since my english is pretty bad ...
Last few days I've been thinkin pretty bad about life balance, esp. life of a poker player....
Even though i may come out as a total douche who doesn't care about anything, truth is the exact opposite, I am always thinkin about some bs ( And i hate it, i would really love to be some random carefree douche )
Well and obv after 10 days with pretty much only poker players got me really down.
I've seen so many disturbing habbits of poker players and the worst part about it is that it's not sporadic... maybe even 80% of some pseudo-succesful players are pretty much real-life losers.
just some random demonstrations:
So many guys are extremly antisocial.... that goes 2 ways...
some guys were just whole 10 days with headphones on and didn't talk to anyone, just grinded for x hours went to hotel to sleep over and over again....
another type of antisocial poker player ( and truth be told much more anoying
) guy who just never shut's up about poker.... 12 days of live grind every day and even after that when we go drinkin or for dinner or w/e he just talks about poker and only poker.... i guess this might be a good way to be extremly succesful very fast but where does this road take you..?
I guess this is the road to succes, or to the fastest succes but for what price... i mean those guys spent most of their " best years " of life like this and after that when they have some succes, most of the times they just don't know how to deal with it or what to do with it....
that's the worst thing i saw in Pardubice.... so many succesful players with hunderds of thousands of $ to their names drunk every night almost to death, snorting cocaine ( also every night... ) and god knows what else....
sad truth about this is that i guess pretty much all of them were the antisocial type livin only for poker as i already mentioned, had their success but now they got lost in the real world....
on the other hand i also met some great people, successful people and the main difference between these and the real life losers was that these people got their lifes " balanced " ....
I hate all those motivational videos etc. tellin you that if you want something you have to live only for that, breathe only for that and do nothing else... i guess there are some people who can pull that off and live a good life after that, but most of us are goig to end up in ruins....
If you are going to enjoy life, friends, have a girlfriend, do sports or whatever + focus on poker you are most likely not going to be the most successful player ever, you are not going to have fast success, but you are not ever going to end up in ruins....
... This is just something that everyone has to think about and each of us has to realize what do we really want...
I could write about this for hours, but in the end it always comes down to this : Fast success with high risk of ruined life vs. balanced life with slower road to success....
edit: and i hope it is atleast little bit understandable... this kind of post is pretty difficult for me to write in english.
