If I see that a guy opens wide here, I just 3bet all suited connectors, small suited aces, small pockets, suited broadways...basically anything I don't feel like calling, and I rarely feel like calling OOP :) Even just some random Ax and Kx from time to time, trying not to get a total maniac image though :) They fold way too often, and when they wake up for a 4bet, I'm pretty sure that I'm behind 90% of the time. What do you think about such a 3B range?
  • Also, am I missing something about passive blind defense? I call only medium pockets like 88-TT(JJ) given the odds, and high suited broadways that should not be dominated often against the villain's range: ATs/AJs, KQs/KJs. I prefer 3-betting the rest most of the time.
  • However, I can't really find my 4-bet game. I think overall I had only a couple of successful 4-bet bluffs, the rest is either gets 5-betted, or called, which is even worse. It might be variance, plus the fact that sometimes I might make a conclusion that the guy can 3-bet light with a small sample. Maybe I also shouldn't 4-bet light from early positions...

As a bluff I 4-bet blockers, mostly Ax, still they have a monster quite often.

I also never 5-bet jam light. Can I increase my winrate by including 5-bet bluffs or changing something in 4-bets?

Thanks! :)

If things stay as good as they are (or even slightly better), we are looking forward a new good-looking graph from the new limit soon _thumbsup:

1) At these lower limits you can 3-bet a wider range because villains are usually much tighter however you want to get in good habits early on (so 3-betting the right hands) because you will move up and have different experiences. So I would stay away from 3-betting random hands just because we can and stick with hands that make the most sense in a specific scenario.

If guys fold a ton to 3-bets and rarely call/4-bet then we want more blockers and hands we can't really call with. If they call to 3-bets a fair amount then we don't want to get caught with A8o or 44 postflop so suited connectors, suited aces, etc are better candidates.

2) The wider the steal ranges for your opponents the more we should defend (both 3-bet and call). If you are facing generally tighter LP stealers than a tighter defense range is fine.

Never/rarely calling is not the greatest plan but for 5nl it's fine because it allows you to focus on more important things.

3) I would recommend staying away from much 4-bet/5-bet bluffing at 5nl and even most of 10nl (depending on the platform).

People do not 3-bet bluff or 4-bet bluff (as you already said) enough at these limits for us to pull these moves profitably. Remember that a 4-bet bluff has to work 65%+ on average and if you do decide to 4-bet bluff blockers are key (A or K).

And I would stay away 100% from 5-bet bluffs here.

Best of luck at the tables.

NL5: 1,000 bb in 7k hands :f_wink:

Spoiler

We are carrying on a good trend from NL2 to NL5, Bogdan :)

Given additional money from clearing the bonus, I could easily start playing NL10 in like a month :) Unfortunately, I'll have to make a short break in Feb, but it won't slow us down too much :f_cool:

That's just beautiful.

Quite a few guys would be jealous of that graph. Look at that red line too, especially for someone at the micros :)

Keep up the great work.

PS: how long is your break in February for?
