Yep it's normal. I don't think it's a downswing though, because you haven't shown any hands that "occur frequently" to you.

Do you think it's a downswing now? Or do you want me to post more hands?

You are definitely not on a downswing, every hand you showed here was played badly on so many lvls.

Please explain why and give me constructive advice instead of harsh criticism. That's what nice people do.

Sorry dude, but this is spot on.

Try rather to play something like 4 tables, and really focus on your decisions.

Also, make the play/learn ratio something like 70/30

I play 4 tables. 6h a day and 7 days a week

In fact after looking at the hands posted it seems there seems one clear problem:

YOU ARE OVER PLAYING YOUR MEDUIM TO STRONG HANDS!

It seems you dont think villian can have a better hand!?

Getting your whole stack in is not a good idea with the nut flush on a paired board. Not because the nut flush is a bad hand BUT because the avg good regular (even on 5NL) will not get it in with the 2nd nut flush. This means when you raise allin your effectively turning your good hand into a bluff.

But in that case villain was a total clueless donk. He could call with a straigth, trips or a small flush.

Look at the betting preflop, flop and turn..what do you think he has:
KJ/ J8 to make a straight on the river; or
9x which floped trips ?

IMHO clearly 9x and no he does not, after you have shown so much strengh, call with J9o when you ship!

Now stop thinking that every player on the table is a "total clueless donk" with the you being the only exception. It is costing you money.

All hands you posted are 200bb deep, do you just play deep all the time or have most trouble with such hands? Do you adjust your strategy at all when effective stacks gets deeper?

Personally I don't think that beginners should be playing that deep at all, it's hard enough to learn winning at 100bb stacks, trying to get good at deep stacks at same time will be counter productive imo as you'll get overflown with information. One step at a time imo.

I think I run into trouble deepstacked. I'm not too experienced with that.

This thread made me happy: Fulltilt softness

I suggest to everyone criticizing me to try playing on Fulltilt and compare the winrate to other sites.

I'll try to beat NL5 on PokerStars this time and next week I'll post a new graph.

Have I said the opposite? I suck deepstacked. I'm gonna beat this * and you'll see. And I'm going to play deepstacked because I need to learn how to play this way.

Seriously, half of the poker community is made of **** (think whatever you want, I'm being polite). People that want to let others down, put them on tilt, etc.

I want coaching but have no money, just the bankroll to play NL5. I'm living with my parents, I live for free, have no bills to pay and I'll one day be good enough to reach high stakes.

If you make a vid of yourself playing I'll watch it and try offer advice.

I'm playing nl20 btw.

This.

Hand #1 Fold pre.

Hand #2 Fold turn.

Hand #3 pre raise 3bb not 4bb. And I don't think you should ever expect AA in that spot, AA would have raised pre, same AK. Going all-in on the flop is too loose. On micros minraise on the flop most of the times indicates strong hand.

So definitely not a downswing but poor play. You should avoid such marginal situations.

You should be willing to get stacks in when you are ahead. And most important have the initiative. When you have initiative it is easier to know whether you are ahead or not.

Get a coach, that will benefit you in many levels. That's what I did when I moved to stars.

I think you can clearly see at what point it did benefit me.

This ^

You shouldn't be playing so many hours/hands if you're struggling to beat the limit, you need to study.

Thank you those who are posting some constructive criticism but some of you are starting to get plain rude towards OP and there is no need for it. By all means state your point and help the guy, but not in such a rude manor.

As for your comment about not being able to afford coaching, what is your current bankroll? Are you following BRM?

I'd suggest you move down to NL2, now you'll probably think this is degrading, but it's far from it; this shows determination to succeed in my eyes.
It's also far easier to beat than NL5, full of fish. You can happily grind there and make the $40 required to hire a coach.

Then post hands in hand evaluation forum. That's what smart people do. :)

Hi ! As said above, you are running way over the EV line, so right now you are playing the nice and lucky part of the game where by the looks of the orange line you should be sucking out a lot and therefore, winning. This doesn't happen because:

- your hand selection is too wide ( with that stats VPIP PFR you are somewhere between TAG and LAG )

- W$SD%: 46.4 this should be way over 50

- Agg: 4.93 too big

- try losing 15%-20% of this one to make it profitable Flop Cbet%: 87.0

These are the biggest mistakes I see in your game. I will post my hand evaluation on the first hands posted by you ! Cheers !

Hi again !

First hand:

With A7s I don't like calling the BU and I prefer 3betting ( in 22% raise you are clearly beating his range and you can make him fold all of those nasty cards, probably even Q9o ).

On the flop, I don't know how much info you can extract from an idiot who is betting 0.05 into a 0.47 pot, but I would still raise it up to 0.20 just to see if he is really strong or not.

On the turn the raise is fine.

RIVER ( this is catastrophic ): He bets overpot first to act. Now, if you do raise him on the flop ( and it's cheap too ) you don't have to face this decision now. Anyway, in this situation, on that board you should see only 2 buttons: FOLD or CALL ( the raise button should be invisible because clearly raising is a mistake here ). As he can have a lot of 9x combos, an overpair ( yes, in this limits it is possible ) or even a flush, I would just call here with the nut flush, but I would consider folding any flush J and lower.

Second hand:

IMO the raise preflop is too low. You are first to act and 5 players after your move will decide what they'll do. I would raise it to 4bb in NL5 from that spot, but anyway in this situation doesn't really make a difference.

FLOP:

He takes initiative from you and bets. In this spot I would 100% re-raise it big, just to see how we're doing. If I get a 3bet, I will fold ( and I think that is what he would do ). If he just calls, if he bets on the turn, I fold, if he checks, I bet/fold and won't fire a 3rd barrel on any river.

As played:

You called the flop ( so you don't have any info ).

TURN:

Calling the turn against all those draws seems ugly as well but you can't raise it now if you didn't raise the flop. Try to take it to showdown after miss playing flop seems the best choice, so check it is :)

RIVER ( again, the worst there is ):

It might sound crazy but, as played, I would just call the river there. Any TT+ beats me, any J splits any 7 beats me. I can beat only a T or a bluff so there's no point in re-raising as he wouldn't call either with the bluff, or with the T.

I would recommend you starting reading the articles in the Bronze section in the PS library because they will be real eye openers for you. I am talking about "you have initiative" "villain has initiative" and "no one has initiative". 3 articles.

Cheers !

It's a good idea to switch to stars, the rake is lower there so your results will be better even if the players are equal in skill to ftp players.

And fwiw, I'd suggest to post those hands instead for coaches to evaluate on hand evaluation boards and ignore what ppl say about it in this thread as I see lots of bad reasoning in those advices here but am too lazy to explain. :f_biggrin:
