Hey guys,

since the productivity guide is finished, but I would still like to help you guys out with your problems, I have decided to open a following thread where you can ask me anything you want regarding productivity :)

Schnitzelfisch Q & A - Become a productive poker player!

Take care!

Hey Schintezelfisch I really appreciate what you're doing for the community. I recently saw a video about some product that will help you stay focused for 4-6 hours and is not bad for your health like energy drinks etc... I was wondering if you as a specialist could tell me if it's true and if it has bad sides aswell. I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post link to that product but an ex poker player who publishes that product made a video about it. On the description there's a link to that product.

"these statements have not been evaluated by FDA" .

Things that I'd be concerned about:
-caffeine (not sure how well that goes together with "no crash")
-4-6 hours of focus (you generally want more than that I suppose :))
-placebo effect
-how much of an effect this will actually have on your body compared to proper nutrition, sleep, hydration, exercise, etc.
-will you get used to the product? will it still have positive effects after a month? what happens if you stop using it?

On the other hand, some ingredients like giseng extract and ginkgo biloba extract have been promoted as focus-enhancing (although afaik that has never really been scientifically proven, it's a grey area), so there might be some positive effects of it.

If you can afford to use it, I'd say give it a try and see how it works. If it's not super cheap for you, I wouldn't bother with it because I think the money can be better invested than that :). (effects are usually way less visible than advertised, there won't probably be a big difference).

Awesome post. I'm still reading it and changing things while I'm doing it! I have a problem with nutrition I have the knowledge what to eat and how but I don't find the strength to fallow it. Find the same problem in poker, I know I'm dominated but still make that stupid call. Same problem goes with my focusing, I start reading an article/my lesson and my focus just fades away on other thoughts. Any advice on that in particular? Thanks once again!

Someone cross-linked that in the german feedback-forum asking for translation which brought me here.

Did not read everything yet, but from what I´ve read - this looks superb. Great work!

I hope I will get to this, since there are some issues I have in my life as well - but the lack of motivation and energy always keep me back from changing.

Again, great work, I think one can´t mention that enough.

Sincerely

Hello!

I got a problem were i think you could help with some advice, at least i hope you can :)

So, i have a problem with my eyes for couple years now since i played WOW like maniac ~15h a day non stop for years, most often with low light intencity in the room. Basicly my eyes got lazy on focusing and sensitive on brighter light. I stoped playing that crap game ofc, spent less time at computer and it kinda balanced out in general. Now im trying to increase table count im playing in sessions and that means i had to change from playing tiled to stacked, which means very limited eye movement over my screen and i feel that my eye focusing starts to get worse again. After sessions my vision is like little blurry and with slow focus on objects. I think many people could have similar problems who sits infront of screen too much.

So, what would i like from you- mby you have come acros some similar experiences and u know how people are dealing with it, mby you can recomend some spesific vitamins for eye health or some eye excersises?

ps. i have checked my vision with "specialis" who told that phisical part of my vision is more than fine and i should just spend less time on computer LOL!

Tnx ;)

Hey there Liub4in,

I think that those problems of yours are quite connected. Have you perhaps ever tried solving them in a structured manner (with slow, but consistent progress)?

I think that if you only committed to taking things slow (solving one problem at a time) and finishing one thing before starting another, you could quite easily solve them.

What I would do if I were you is start by eliminating junk food, soft drinks and sweets from my diet, and do this for at least 1 month consistently. After that, you can optimize and make your nutrition perfect.

If that is too hard for you, you can break the problem down - You can avoid soft drinks for the first 2 weeks, then add avoiding junk for the next 2 weeks, sweets for the third 2 weeks, etc.

Changing your nutrition will help your mental state during the poker sessions (people are very often nervous, angry and make rash decisions because of shitty nutrition), as well as enable you to focus for longer periods of time during the studying.

You can again break down the articles/videos to solve your problem. It's easier to commit to watching 10 minutes of a video and taking notes than to say to yourself that you have to watch the whole video in one piece. Once you get used to watching 15 minutes of a video a day, you can increase that amount.

You can easily solve your mental game problems by reading the book Mental game of poker and applying it to your daily life by constantly doing the exercises from the book.

There is one more important thing to mention here, and I think it is the most important of all. Have you written a vision statement yet? If you haven't done so, you're going to have a hard time changing any of your bad habits.

A clear vision which you review daily and hold yourself accountable for it will enable you to overcome any problem - so give it a shot :)!

Hey there vuciitis,

I must admit that I haven't had similar problems in the past, but I have heard of some exercises for improving your sight, which might help you out ;). There are some exercises in this book, give them a shot and let us know how it goes!

Hey Schnitzelfisch,

I began following the guide you laid down. I began writing my vision and I am giving myself a few days for improving/perfecting.

hello!

long story short- im not satisfided with the session length im having at the moment. im playing 12 tables of 6max hyper turbos and i can play only 30min (playing stacked and draging out important tables (HU, bubble) ), after that i have to decrease table count as i feel like im going total zombie / auto mode...
do u have any suggestion how to increase my productivity and ability to stay fresh longer?

tnx :)
