As I have seen on YouTube, New Jersey is the third US state to legalize online poker, does that mean we'll soon have all the US players back @ the tables???
Does anyone follow this matter closely, this could mean a lot more traffic during slow hours in Europe...
Nevada legalized online poker since 2011 and still no online poker there. so it might be a year before something happens, maybe more.
Nevada online poker sites will be for Nevada state residents only. Don't know about New Jersey but as i have read online poker site audits and licensing there will take 1-2 year
I agree its great news, but sorry to say that the chance of any state-run US poker joining player pools with other nations is extremely unlikely for at least the next few years.
First they have to actually get up and running. Then they have to figure out how to combine player pools with other participating states, a complicated matter in itself. Then there is that tendency the US is notorious for which is to not play fair regarding international online gaming (esp considering the govt prob still views themselves as having lost billions in revenue to offshore sites).
So it sure seems far from happening anytime too soon. Also we should consider that France, Italy, Spain and other euro countries that set up their own regulated system all deliberately segregated their player pools from the rest of the world.
If you want to play with American fishies.. you're probably gonna have to move here! ♦
I heard Stars is buying land Casino's so it can sneak back into the US market (Also since it paid of not only its debts but also the FTP debts its in the US Gov's good books)

Pokerstars will have to go through full audit and licensing like any other site and as i sayed it will take 1-2 years probably. And it is not a fact that it will get it. In Nevada or/and maybie in some other or all states the law also places a 5-year restriction on companies that operated online poker in the US after UIGEA was passed in 2006.

I think that there is a major problem in that there is a federal law that overrides what the states may or may not want to do.
States have far more autonomy than sub-jurisdictions in most other countries, but I still don't think that a state law can trump a federal law if it governs the same activity.
But yeah -- it is still good news

Pokerstars can't do it because it was decision of Fr It and Spain government and it is part of a license in those countries. But even if PS had power to do it they wouldn't because segregation is great way to protect French, Italian, Spanish fish from sharks. Oh and don't forget much more strict regulation in fr, it and Spain.Also if you want to play in fr sites probably in other two countries to you need to have bank account in some EU country which will be big problem for non EU residents
