Can't say much about the statistics without knowing whether you play FR or 6-max :P

But anyway, I see you have a leak on your flop cbet frequency. It should be close to 70 %, you have it 90. You also 3-bet very little, but guess it's fine on FR. You fold to cbet quite often and you have very low WTSD after all.

Yeah, I play on FR.

I know my CBet is high, but I'm honestly not sure where I should be adjusting what hands/spots I should avoid C-Betting in.

What would better numbers be for Fold to Cbet and WTSD?

Thanks so much!

Wow, it's been more than a week since my last post. I didn't realize so much time had gone by.
I have been a bit busy with real life. Work, Hockey Games, and so on, but I've also been putting in time towards poker, just not towards this blog.

BR Update: All sites - $510; Just PokerStars - $386.

I'm now playing NL10 and have been doing decent in sessions. I realized some tendencies that 'maybe' helped me rush up from NL2 through NL5 quickly were probably hurting me at NL10.

My redline was really high and my blue line was starting to actually suffer.
Through some coaching from my good friend Lucker9200 I realized how I was thinking so incorrectly about my bet-sizing. And with a comment from a hand judge I realized I was trying to 'protect' hands that weren't strong enough to be protecting. I was raising Flop/Turn/River something like 80%/80%/55% of the pot with frequencies like 90/65/40.

I am likely to not change the frequencies so much, though I will try to be even more conscious of opponents ranges and how they could hit the board...
I am betting smaller than before, and even with just one short session, things just felt more 'right'.

Here's a graph:

As far as my general poker goals go, I am slowly finishing the reading for all the linked articles from the Short Handed Strategy overview page. I realized I didn't need all of them to finish the HomeWork 7, but I'll finish them anyways.

I'm at 32k for hands, so I'll probably finish November at about 40K, which is pretty good for the amount of time I had to put in and how other stuff went this month.

The last two bits of news are, we've had a couple sweat sessions with our group and those are going well. Also, I'm now reading the Mental Game of Poker and it is helping me rethink how to learn at poker and is helping me reevaluate a lot of other life things.

More updates to follow soon. Feedback welcome!

Really nice progress so far. Good luck in NL10, I personally stalled at NL10 every time I gave it a shot :f_biggrin: . It's a whole other ballgame. NL2 and NL5 can be beat with just good preflop play, in NL10 you need a little more then that.

Sorry for another long gap in sharing my blog. I've been busy with 'real life' and I have failed at becoming less flakey.

But a couple good points:
1. I'm working through Jared Tendler's book The Mental Game of Poker. I am about halfway through it. The plan was to read the whole thing quickly so as to understand the general points, then immediately start reading it again taking time to do every activity/practice that is suggested.

2. I was running really bad, (okay not really bad, but still a bit of a downswing), losing 5 buyins over the course of a few days. I felt like I was bleeding chips. There was a conference in another city so I got some down time from poker. Then yesterday I came back and played a long focused session. I played well and ran even better to make 10.5 buyins in just one session (2400 hands).

Tomorrow is a long day at a school far from home too, but I should have time to finish reading all the articles for Homework 7 (including all the ones that the actual articles link to). I hope to finish Homework 7 tomorrow and to move on to the final part of the Beginner's Course.

I'm about to leave on a two week vacation to Malaysia. My wife and I leave tomorrow, so I'll likely have a hiatus of that length from poker. But I plan to become more regular with my blog when I get back. Maybe a bit of a New Years Resolution...

My bankroll has gotten to about $500.
It jumps up and down with some 4-5BI swings (I know, pretty small, but I'm working on my Mental issues too (see below)). I know that I am making a lot of mistakes, and at times lose some motivation to play.

On the good side, I have finished the homework for the last part of the Beginners Course. I plan to do some review and continue watching Hasenbraten's Crushing NL50 series. I want to make sure I understand the basics and can start implementing all that I learned properly. I'll take the test at the end of January.

When I realize how bad I play and how much I need to learn, I can start to get down on myself. But luckily I'm also reading Jared Tendler's book - The Mental Game of Poker. I read it through once to become familiar with the material. Now, working through it again, I plan on taking it slow and doing all the activities he encourages including the journal, warmups and cooldowns, and the survey as well.

Last, I just got another new book called The Way We're Working Isn't Working by Tony Schwartz. It was mentioned in one of Jared Tendler's podcasts for The Mental Game.

I'd like to make this blog more regular. The things it should (will) incorporate are:
Bankroll updates, Study progress (videos/articles I'm using), Mental Game studies and realizations, General life updates, and Sharing my progress to becoming my dream me! :f_biggrin:

So, I'm going to really focus on poker this month. I've taken a hit to my BR, though nothing mortal. I have about $325 on PokerStars and about $75 on FTP. I'm focused on NL10.

I need to seriously fix my leak of calling down with incorrect odds. The way that I'm trying to rewire my thinking is to review hands soon after a session and us an Equity Calculator to put the villain on a range of likely hands and see if I am getting the correct odds accordingly. I need to have a deeper and clearer understanding so that I don' make emotional hero calls or play draws wildly.

It is frustrating when I review a session and see that, with maybe 3 or 4 specific hands I know I should have let go, I would have made a losing session into a breakeven session, or a breakeven session into a winning session.

頑張ります

Been doing a bit better so far this month compared to previous months. But I'm realizing I have a lot of other stuff in my life going on.

Man, I feel like a mess in a lot of ways. Part of it is living in foreign culture, and a very polarized opposite one at that. I live in Japan, but I am from the States, so it can be really fun and interesting at times, but also very stressful.
And I think this 4th year of really cold winter is getting to me in other ways.
I feel so passive and lazy in many ways and need to get my situation together.

I have been doing pushups every other day, and that is a slow but clear help. But I think the 3 biggest things I need to do outside of that are: Sleep better and longer (which means I should stop typing and go do that), Stop drinking alcohol (which I honestly do too often and too much, and Start eating healthier in general.

As far as poker goes, I seem to have a ridiculous weakness for calling when people shove all-in on me because I can't stand to let them 'put the moves on me' and I feel like I deserve to win. I will be reading about Entitlement Tilt tomorrow in Jared Tendler's The Mental Game of Poker.
