here I thought his range for calling the flop bet was somewhere between 88+
and JJ+, and that AK would have folded. Therefore I thought he would have to fold most hands of his range to my turn bet.

Shouldn't you bet more on the flop (2/3-3/4 of pot)? Then if he calls that, it makes sense to fire again on the turn, he could have smaller overpair, or a draw if he played loose preflop. Only other thing is that you said AK probably wouldn't call the flop, but Ax suited in spades would definitely call.

AKss and maybe AQss are of course possible, come to think of it. I hadn't taken those two into account.

I´d also bet more on the flop.
I think that turn is probably fine both bet/fold or c/c.
Since A is scared card to him, he could fold his draw and if even if he calls then you can get value with draws.
If you go c/c then player can bluff with draw and if he checks behind then you keep pot small.
