I have moved down in limit once and i don't wanna do it again, it costed me 3 months X(. I had 300BB rule for FR and going from 0.1/0.2 to 0.25/0.5 with 150$ and dropped to 60$, and allmost quit poker, then i decided to set higher bankroll limits and took me 3 months (i didnt play much) to climb to 300$ and then move up to 0.25/0.5 again.

Another reason for quite big bankroll is that you can overlast your bad run and stay on that limit, and if u don't you can be sure you don't play well enaugh and move back down and still have bankroll to play comfortable at the limit below eg. you move up with 1000BB and loose 600BB, you can be pretty sure there is something wrong with your game and move bach down a limit at which you have comfortable 800BB.
Secon example: you move up with 500BB, hit 300BB down, have to move back, loose another month or two to grind it back, not knowing if it was your play or just bad luck.

Well you should do whith whatever you feel well. All we can say i that you might lose some time while doing so.

Your second example is a good one of how BRM ca be missunderstood. You can't play on the limit as long as you lose 300BB. You have to move down when you reached a certain mount for the lower limit.

If you say you move up to 1/2$ when you reached 500BB for it on 0,5/1 you have to move down as soon as you have no more than 500BB for the lower one. Which is a 250BB downswing. Of course the way up will be hard again but that's the price you pay for having a tighter BRM. A loose BRM allows you to move up fast while having to move down fast as well.

This doesn't make your BRM bad but you will need a lot time for moving up. I myself had suh a tight BRM myself and regret it. I stayed way to long at 5/10$ (I lost 800BB there) and the way up again took me so much time that my motivation to play is very low (it still is low).
I don't know what would have happened with a looser BRM but if I have the choice I would go the looser way. :)

You said you go for 1500BB on the higher limit and the current one is 1000BB?
That are 6000$ for 2/4. You would move down if you hit 2000$. How demotivating would that be or would you really go on at 2/4 if you hit a 1000BB downswing?

I hope this doesn't sounds to offending so please don't be mad with me. :)

But at least you know it wasn't a bad luck downswing (i think 1000BB downswing is very improbable) so you can move down a limit and work on your game and not even have to worry about when you are going back up, because you aren't ready yet anyway. That was my point.

And the comfort when playing is allso very important, at least for me. If i moved up with a small BR i only wait when a strike is going to happen and can't focus enaugh on my game (not that it needs to much focus on limits i play, but it still heps).

I think 1000 posted and evaluated hands in forum will be more informative and cheaper than wasted 1000 BB.
