Well the Boss was completey unreal. 63 years old and played for 3+ hours nonstop. Puts me to shame as that's my entire daily volume

Pain has been a bit less the last couple of days. Related or unrelated, finally managed to string a few wins together with a +$600 day today which was a real filip. I'm randomly playing $30s-$100s with ABI around $40. No goldens yet but games r slightly fishier which is much more important, imo.

I'm now completely ommitting hypers. Wish I hadn't got started on them in the first place. Totally wrong for my mentality and gameplan...

HEM2 says I'm running $3.5k over EV this year. Thank goodness, otherwise I'd be broke :)

Enjoy Wednesday, all.

Thank you, sir!

One of the best days in a long time. Hardly any pain. Went to some woods to pick wild garlic with the family. The sun shined all day so we had a bbq in the garden. Falafel burgers with fresh herb yoghurt dip.

I'm actually looking forward to tomorrow's grind. Who'd a thunk it?

Love and snogs,
Xxx

I discovered this documentary today. It recalls to mind Innocent Moves (aka Searching for Bobby Fischer) and my own odyssey to WSP in NYC, in 2011.

And here is 'Sweatpea', who I beat in our own 5 minute game for $5. He's featured at 09:40 in the documentary:

Just poured out a stein of weisbier and sitting down to watch the first episode of Dexter which has appeared on love film. It's been a good day at the tables and I'm feeling about the happiest I have felt for a long time. :)

In the first week of this month I suffered an almost total physical and mental mental breakdown. The pain caused by whatever I have done to my shoulder and stress of wondering whether that would in turn prevent me from earning a living all came to a head and I experienced something close to a panic attack while trying to remember the doctor's number long enough to dial it, to make an emergency appointment, on a phone that was bleeping with a low battery...

A lot of it had to do with the additional anxiety resulting from falling earnings over the last few months and a sense that I had lost my way as a professional poker player. Not knowing whether I was, or could become, a winning PLO player but feeling that sngs were dying as a means of earning good money, I felt lost and uncertain.

After I made the emergency appointment, I went for a walk and decided to stop PLO and return to reg speed low/midstakes sngs. Immediately I felt a sense of calm and purpose. I think it was the right decision. I don't have any additional mobility in my left shoulder/arm, but the pain caused by it and the additional stress-related pain has been much less since then. I've gone back to doing what I do best, namely grinding out a living in games where I know I have a clear and quantifiable edge. I ran pretty well too and so, despite the pitifully low volume, I managed to make pretty decent earnings which has done a lot to keep the stress levels at bay. Towards the end of the month I played a bit more PLO and feel I'm starting to get the hang of plo 100.

The main test will come once the doctors tell me what I have done to my shoulder. Until then I'll keep plugging away at whatever 30s/60s and 100s I can find that are playable and leave the higher stakes games for those with better nerves than me :)

Tim's gonna have everyone hate on plo saying it causes actual physical pain :P

On a serious note, glad to hear your body is feeling better. Keep grinding those sngs, so i have a reg less to worry about when playing

they heard you quit PLO and they saw they could not afford it! saw they decided to reduce the rake so you'd come back!

I think the rake reductions are good news. 1. they will increase the players pools at the micros which feed into the midstakes; 2. they set a precedent for rake reductions at plo which has to be a good thing.
