Yesterday it was my wife's birthday and we celebrated with the usual gastronomic delights:

  • A breakfast of scrambled eggs on home-made toast.
  • A lunch of sautéd samphire with butter and garlic, followed by grilled cheese sandwiches (random but delicious).
  • A dinner of crab and chilli linguine with watercress and fresh parsley from the garden (extracted under cover of plastic mac during non-stop downpour); rack of lamb marinated in garlic, thyme and anchovy, then roasted until just pink in the middle with a delicious fragrant crust; followed (much later on, after room in our tummies had been procured) by Thai style mango and sticky rice.

It was a shame the weather was so foul but we hunkered down with a bottle of McManis Californian Zinfandel and make the best of it. :)

The month is nearly over and will be entirely unspectacular results wise. However I've put in a decent amount of volume on plo 50 Zoom (given constant horrid shoulder pain), fixed some of the more glaring leaks with the aid of some useful coachings, and got myself within spitting distance of a shot at plo 100 beginning next month. I'm feeling a bit anxious about the prospect but also kind of excited...

A fairly minimalist update this month. SnGs went well; Plo didn't. I'm not bothered about the running bad at cash, just that I'm less sure than I was about my objective ability. The first half of the month went pretty well. But in the last week or so (playing purely Plo) both my results and my confidence dipped a lot. I still have quite some work to do before I will feel ready to move up... :( My EV bb/100 at 25k hands is exactly breakeven. Could be worse, but not really very encouraging. That said, one must be realistic. Zoom is full of regs, and I'm learning a new game from scratch, so breakeven is not a total disaster.

Brief numbers:

SnGs

361
ABI $65.18
Winnings $1517.24
Hours 33.65
SnG hourly $45.44

PLO

Hands 17,525
Winnings -$1688.21
Hours 55.04
Plo Hourly -$30.68

Other earnings (4.5h): $140 // Rakeback (inc. game integrity, leaderboards etc.): $913.09 //
Expenses (coaching etc.) $180

Final Profit: $944.06
Total Hours: 93.19
Hourly: $10.13

Yep, I'm aware. And stubborn. And I know of people who are making a living playing plo. :)

Yea I'm sure it's possible to make a living. :) You know anyone making a living on zoom PLO? Would seem like beating rake should be significantly harder than on regular tables.

Good point. I know there are guys who are making $ on zoom. Whether it's a living, I'm not sure. I might switch to reg tables when/if i move up.

Good friend of mine, HS live cash game player, recently switched to PLO coz all the HS action now is PLO. He took it as a challenge and grinded online PLO50, took lessons and so on. He played on Stars, shortly tried PLO100 or so, but after short time he switched to other smaller sites and plays PLO200-2000 wherever he can. And as I saw some hands and so on - there are the money :) And for live games, he s crushing...so if u wanna enjoy your edge, play live cash somewhere, 5/10$ or so and u ll crush imo.

So, I've now grinded 26.5k hands at plo50 Zoom. I have run badly (35BI under EV) but managed a slightly positive EV winrate. Recently dropped a bunch of BI - some of it on T I L T - but managed to grind it back up.

I've paid $1599.15 in rake :f_biggrin: So around 12bb/100 in rake

I think it's time for a shot at Plo 100. Not sure where, or if it will be normal or fastfold. Current hourly is around $10-12 and that's not really enough. So it's up or out...

Lol @ PLO rake. I just never want to play PLO. You might as well grind MTTs.

Quick update while I can type. Doc thinks I may have damaged my rotator cuff...

Plo is stressing me out b/c hardly any decisions are automated and I have to think through everything. Teh Pokerzzz is HARD.

So it's back to sngs for a while, grinding up from low limits to get the confidence back (and finding the most ez games), while my body slowly repairs itself (hope I don't need an op - you'll know when I know).

No targets. Minimal pressure. Just try and grind out a few dollars a day like the old times...

TFR :)
