Dear CPallo thankyou for your insight. I think urs is the best solution. But my problem is believing those players. And the worst thing is I hate to fold my hand to a bluff. I just hate it. And this leads to me spewing. There were times where I folded the best hand coz of the ultra aggro nature of villains, to recuperate, I walked into set mines with my overpairs. Thus losing further.

I get what you mean. But players at the lowest limits won't often be raising the turn and/or river as a bluff. So if you have top pair top kicker on the turn and a drawy board (or even a dry board) it's perfectly fine to just bet/fold. Most of the time you're going to be way behind already.

Take your hand for example. If you bet the turn, villain is going to call with a bunch of weaker Ax or pairs with a flush draw. If he decides to raise though, you can comfortably fold. Best case scenario villain is raising something like TT with a heart there, which is very unlikely. Most players will rather just call there. So if you get raised here, you can be pretty certain you're up against a hand better than yours.

Sure sometimes he might be bluffing, but is it worth taking that risk? Is he going to be bluffing often enough to make a profitable call here? Even if he is bluffing now, how do you continue on the river? Are you comfortable calling another bet? Those are all things you have to take into account.

Of course it feels great if you do end up catching his bluff, but you have to ask yourself if it's really worth it to call, because most of the time you're just going to be way behind already.

Of course I'm no expert at all, but this is just my opinion on it!

You sure sound like an expert. Thanks :). Although I make mistakes at every corner, I love the fact that I learn something new.

When you have flopped a set and your opponent with an overpair or top pair, you know you are going to get paid in full amount. At least at NL2 you are going to get paid.
But how do you deal with the reverse situation? Your table pops with two beautiful aces. You realize you have two limpers behind you. You decide to raise 7BB(a tad high raise, i know, but thats my style). One of them calls, he checks and you decide to bank on him. You raise 3/4 + 1BB of the pot, he calls, turn comes and he checks again. You now again raise 3/4 of the pot and instantly he shoves, all the gut wrenching feeling rushes into your head, and you are stuck in a limbo, as if time has stopped. All your focus now at that table. You are now thinking what you want to think. You think he is a donk. You think he has just the top pair and he is overplaying his hand. And after contemplating for 10 seconds which feels like eternity you decide to call. The hole cards are now flipped and you see he has a set. You curse yourself, you begin to hate yourself for making that call. But after a notable number of hands later you again make that same mistake, again curse and hate yourself.
This goes on. I wonder if I will be like one of those online mind readers who can throw away their cards if they see anything suspicious. I wonder.

Just remember this: When they check-raise turn it's like ALWAYS better than top-pair, so you really shouldn't call it. People don't play balanced on this level. Ofc you love your aces, but there's time and place to fold them <3

Yep, agreed with CPallo. Just respect their turn raises. They're just not bluffing often enough.

A basic rule of thumb with top pairs and overpairs against fish is to just bet, bet, bet until they raise, in which case you fold. Of course that's a huge generalization and not something you should adhere to all the time, but it usually does hold true.

If you have top pair/overpair and they raise you on the turn or river, you can usually be pretty happy about just folding.

IMO readless when check/minraised on dry flops is also not bad to fold overpairs.

Yeah, that's probably true as well. Better take the safe route unless they're super aggro or something.

I feel like I owe it to myself and other readers an apology for being absent from PokerStrategy forum. I have been on and off from poker but last few days I have again started grinding. And its been a struggle I have to admit. While I have been making money there are some players who are getting on my nerves. And I thought where to get the advice better than PS?

Type 1 players: Donk bettors. They are usually on the SB or BB, and after calling your raise, they donk bet just 1BB, I mean WTF? Please guys help me out to deal with these junk heads.

Type 2 players: When they usually have sets they against my over pairs, they reraise me on the flop as opposed to the more traditional turn reraise. I hate to throw away my AA or KK against a flop reraise but sometimes they flash a set. If it was a turn then I would definitly let it go. Moreover, I dont think these are bad players, they are good players who know how to cash in. How to deal with them is a big question.

I will be coming forward with more player type questions, also I will be shooting few questions regarding few situations that I face while playing a hand.

Hey,

Are you still not using a hud?

I'm using FPDB, http://sourceforge.net/apps/mediawiki/fpdb/index.php?title=Main_Page

better than not using anything at all!

Anyway good luck!

Just extract it, it should work.

You'll need to select the directory for hands. That is what I did!

Yeah well I have installed it all right but My FPDB shows it is connected to SQLLite, where as I downloaded and installed MySqL, I want to know how do I link my FPDB to MYSQL instead of SQL Lite?

Thanks

So finally I have been able to install a HUD which is FPDB...
I am really grateful to the developers for developing such a jam, even though I think it is somewhat in the nascent state, the software is not so far behind HM3 or PT4, and it has the potential to surpass the qualities of those paid HUDs. Now I will be able to show off my profits(losses mainly :P ) to you guys :)!

So this topic kind of got muffled due to the HUD topic. I am back again on this topic.

Type 1 Player: These players usually are on the SB or the BB and after calling my raise they raise 1 BB on the flop!? I mean WTF? What kind of donk bet is this. How to deal with these players

Type 2 Player: These players I consider as good players but I want to learn to beat them. Suppose I have AA/KK and I raised preflop, then SB/BB call, on a considerable dry flop these players donk bet 3/4th of the pot, but I feel the urge to reraise them because I have AA or KK, but then on the flop we go to the showdown and he shows his set. Usually I bet-fold on the turn but how to deal against a set on the flop. I guess I am always going to bust on hands like these.
