So I have finally finished my FDB deal on Betsafe, which took way longer than expected because something went wrong for the first few K's I raked (Betsafe put in the bonus too late and couldn't make the rake before that count towards it). In the end it turned out better for me, because I got compensated for that first amount of rake.

I will probably switch to another platform and leave Ongame, because traffic has decreased significantly and will probably decrease even more since Betfair is also leaving Ongame. I'm undecided yet about the platform I will start playing on and I'm not even sure about the format (I might switch to HU hypers). I currently suck at HU and it might be good to challenge myself and improve at the hypers.

Poker is probably going to be less of a priority the coming months, because I need to finish my Thesis and combining poker and Thesis to the extent I have before was not really working out great for my Thesis.

On a sidenote, I'm going to buy a new laptop soon, as I have already lost tons of money because of my laptop overheating and shutting down as a consequence (could probably have bought a new laptop from that money already). I'm probably going for a Samsung Ultrabook 5 series. As I travel quite a bit I wanted a laptop that would last long on a battery and isn't too heavy either.

How can you possibly grind on a laptop screen alone?

Have you solved the internet problem or are you still pending nights at the university computer rooms?

BTW, is your skype still the same, cos I wanted to discuss this platform changing thing - I'm hesitating between leaving ongame as fast as I can and taking an fdb on betsafe, probably similar to what you have had, so that's why I'd like some advice And also a bit about late night traffic.

Yes my Skype is still the same, but I'm not on that much because I still don't have proper internet at home. I'll try to be on a bit more when I'm at uni so you can hit me up and discuss about Ongame.

And yes, I'm still going to the university at night I hope I can fix it soon (the problem is I depend on my room mate for getting internet and he needs it a little less than I do apparently), because it takes a lot of time to set everything up every time.

But I guess I could do a little update

At the end of June I successfully defended my thesis and got an A, so very happy about that. Consequently I have also finally finished my Master's degree so now I finally have time to grind.

Since I didn't have that much time to playing during my Thesis writing I have to rebuild my BR quite a bit. I also made the stupid decision to play some HU hypers at Ongame on the side which cost me quite a bit of money so that cut into my BR as well. So now I'm grinding everything from $11s to $33s and trying to clear another bonus.

The task seems almost impossible, I have to rake $200+ each day to be able to clear the bonus. So far I have not even come close to raking that while playing 6+ hrs a day. The traffic at Ongame is just so bad right now I'm often stuck with 3-4 tabling during the day, the only time I can 8-table is after 6PM CET and even then there are huge downs in traffic. Honestly it's quite stressful because it would suck big time if I don't clear the bonus. So it's going to be a sweat but I always put in the most volume when under pressure so let's do it!

So far I'm at 65 hrs this month with just $1400 in rake, leaving me with $5400 to rake in 24 days. So yes I have a lot of grinding ahead of me. I will try to update my blog a bit more often again to motivate me and to keep you all up to date, whomever is interested

I also have some other news. After letting me down for the 4445545x time, I have decided that my laptop has to be replaced. Every now and then my laptop was already shutting down after it overheated (damn Toshiba crap) even when using an external cooling unit below the laptop. But if that was not enough, it also starts to freeze lately, up to the point I have no option but to restart. So I have ordered a new one, and decided to go for a custom made ultrabook laptop. I travel quite a bit with just hand luggage and it's always a pain in the ass that my laptop takes up about 3.5kg of the max 10kg, so an ultrabook seemed a good choice. It is supposed to arrive next Tuesday, so the grinding should be smoother from then on. ♦

As usual it turned into quite a TL;DR story but I hope you enjoy it!

Congrats on the school stuff, I know how happy it makes you to finish something you've been working on a while.

Ongame traffic for 5 max is not that great but its probably because me and Gavron left, maybe couple other regs and there is no fish or recreational players at those limits. The way I did for bonus was most 54s. I suggest you do that otherwise you are doomed to fail. We have 2 students on Ongame now, one is playing 3.3 and 5.5 and plays 9 tables plays 100 games a day , so I guess there is volume at the lowest stakes but for you its a big trouble, good luck with it.

Don't buy laptop, buy plane ticket for Serbia instead and we will bring Kurrkie and other guys for that famous game I will organize

I'm having quite stressful times at the moment. First of all it's really hard to clear a bonus if traffic is so horrible that you can barely 6-table during most parts of the day, so it's going to be really hard to actually clear it. It would be a huge letdown considering it's a 2.5k bonus but I'll figure something out hopefully.

On top of that I also run like death and have been off my game because of that a few times. I seriously wonder if I will ever see all of that EV I have collected over the years back, I don't want to whine too much but it's 450BI difference by now over 50k games, if it were super-turbo's yeah sure, but 99% of them are regular turbo's.. Honestly it's really hard to drive out the thought sometimes if it will ever end.

On a more positive note, my new laptop has arrived and it's nice to be able to play 8-9 tables (when there is enough traffic lol) and not have a laptop that is lagging like hell, on my old laptop it was lagging so bad sometimes that I could not see the cards before I timed out

I'm not saying it won't turn at some point but it makes me sick that after 50k games it still hasn't and it's only getting worse. I'm not asking for mercy or pityfullness, I'm just expressing my emotions in my blog.

So as promised the montly review of July, and what a sad month it was

At Ongame the edges are already thin because of the fast structure, so it doesn't help if you also run like shit

As so you can see in the graph I ran below EV but for most of the month it was manageble and then for the last few hundred games of the month the boom switch went on and my redline also started to suffer a lot. I can't deny that I was probably on my B/C game a lot the last part of the month, both for running bad and because of the weather (it's quite warm for Dutch standards). Furthermore my BR is suffering quite a bit with how things are going lately.

But what is probably the most frustrating is that it feels like I'm already playing about the most games I can considering the traffic at Ongame, I'm already mixing $11s,$22s and $33s and I'm even mixing in 5max super turbo's and HU super turbo's, and yet I'm nowhere near what I need to rake on a daily basis.

On a positive note (you always gotta have one :f_biggrin:) I'm happy that my redline seems to be around BE, which I think is quite ok for an Ongame player.

Yes I will switch for sure, the traffic is unbearable and right now (apart from the bonus) there are no good room promotions either.
