On this example I got pot odds of 2:1 (I'm BB, not the Hero). SNG Wizard says to call with 26%. My equity against his range is:

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 56.034% 54.32% 01.72% 52285005636 1654765368.00 { 44+, A4s+, KJs+, A8o+ }
Hand 1: 43.966% 42.25% 01.72% 40667769900 1654765368.00 { 22+, A5s+, K6s+, Q8s+, J9s-J7s, T7s+, 97s+, 87s, 76s, A8o+, KTo+, QTo+, JTo }

It's a 56-44. But my pot odds are 2:1, so to have profit I just need to have odds of 1.9:1 (which is almost 33% equity). Why isn't it EV+ to call with just 33% equity, instead of 44%?

Hi Tosh5457,

I'm not familiar with SnG Wizard, but I think the hand ranges are out here. They give that guy a 44+, A4s+, KJs+, A8o+ range. Which I wouldn't give him such a range.

But against the range SnG wizard gives him we only have 33% equity anyway. So i'm not sure where 44% came from. As I say I dont know anything about this software, and I might be missing something.

What are your views on this guys?

SNG wizards says to call with 26% of the hands, which gives me 44% equity against his range. That's where the 44% came from.

When you call, you don't have a range of cards, you have two single cards
Sng wizard tells you to call with the top 26% of your hands, which obviously consists of hands like AA and KK too, with which you have higher than average equity. However the fact that when calling with AA you have higher than average equity against his range absolutely doesn't matter when deciding whether to call with 63s or not.
Sng wizard is simply telling you to call with J7s or better, JTo or better, etc
If you see your equity with these hands that lie on the border of your range against his 14% range, these are the results

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 67.800% 67.17% 00.63% 759121508 7095096.00 { 77+, A8s+, K9s+, QTs+, JTs, ATo+, KJo+, QJo }
Hand 1: 32.200% 31.57% 00.63% 356808940 7095096.00 { J7s }

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 67.836% 66.63% 01.20% 2163280884 39025656.00 { 77+, A8s+, K9s+, QTs+, JTs, ATo+, KJo+, QJo }
Hand 1: 32.164% 30.96% 01.20% 1005196188 39025656.00 { JTo }

Obviously with better hands you will have an higher equity, which makes the call even better.

I don't really know how to explain this, and I am not even sure that I understood what the problem you had was.

Hi Tosh5457,

We can't ever just use pot odds in a sitngo. We need more than breakeven to make a call when close or in the money. Which is why we can push wider, because our opponents also can't call as wide. By the way, villain's range is a lot lighter there than 14%
