Hi guys,

This is possibly a dumb question but here goes anyway.

When calculating pot-odds should we factor rake into the equation or not?

Hi, tightfish19
Not dumb at all, really.

However the answer is no.

Pot odds are Pot:Bet

So if the Pot is $3 and you need to put in $1 to call, you are getting 3:1

Most people round off the pot odds anyway -- and by more than the rake.

So if the pot was 5.20 and the required bet was $1 you would say 5:1.
If the rake was 40 cents, the pot is really only 4:80, which still rounds off to 5:1

You get the idea.

Cheers,
