Im from Birmingham aswell, do you go to Star City or G in Walsall?

I play mainly at those but ive been to Broadway a few times but found it too serious there I found some of the players criticize plays a lot and are very opinionated... dont know if you have noticed that there (may have just been the players I was sitting with, ive only been about 6-7 times).

Nice blog though, its good that your off to uni but remember don't let poker get in the way of your studies, education is important (I can say that now i've already got my degree :))

Standard at Broadway is very polarized. Cash game is generally ok in terms of toughness. There are some very very competent regs. Tournament is like you said, people who are opinionated and criticize what they think is bad play. Essentially anything that means you take chips of them.

Hi everyone, so starting the blog a lot later than I thought. Going to get straight to it.

Starting with PLO4 way over rolled with £250 on Ladbrokes. Most tables are Euro but I just count them as £ when talking about BI.

I'm playing 50 + 10 rule. So will move up at

£300 10PLO

£700 20PLO

£1400 40PLO

£2500 50PLO

£3500 100PLO

Ladbrokes rakeback system generates 27.5% if you make over 3000 points a month or 30% with 10000. It's pretty hard for me to do that latter at 4/10PLO and 2.25% isn't enough for me to lose sleep about and may mean I put in more volume and lose more than I gain.

Therefore I want to generate 3000 points a month. So average 100 a day.

My target will be 200 a day, then I will stop.
I will stop a playing day if I drop 5 BI's, the stop win is 15 BI's or if I hit the 200 target or if I make enough to take my +10 shot. If I lose my + 10 shot I'll move back down.

My next +10 shot is at £300, or roughly 13 BI's at 4 PLO.

I also want to watch videos, any opinions on good ones?
I also want to join a 6 max Skype group

Any opinions on when I should spend the £40 on small stakes Omaha manager? when I get to 100PLO I will upgrade to the full one.

My thinking was. He's really shit and will get it in with his whole range. When he doesn't shove me on the turn, I'm pretty sure I have him beat? I think he just monkey calls me with bullshit. IMO it's a close fold preflop, I normally play fairly tight and this is quite aggro for me. I hate building big pots with a hand like this because 95% of the time you have to hit t carry on. Any constructive comments welcome

Coming up to a year now after I haven't posted on this blog, such a huge shame that I didn't carry it on, however I'm here now.

I didn't bust, I ended up getting to PLO 100 then having to take out my roll for uni as I just didn't get enough at the start of last term.

I stopped playing online mostly and kept to live, playing between the Vic and a couple of casinos in Birmingham. I had to keep to the NL tables unfortunately as I just wasn't rolled for PLO, but still had a lot of fun on the 1/2

I'm currently at the uni of Warwick. Played at Genting in Cov last night, never going there EVER again. Horrendous. Tonight is the Titan tourny at the Ricoh, £55 2 day with add on and 10K guarantee. More excited about the possibility of playing 1/1 plo there against some tourny fish though.

So current status and starting point for the blog revamp.

I have a live roll of 2.5K. Which online players may see as small, but trust me, that's more than enough to ride out the variance in live. Essentially want to build this up so I'm properly rolled for 1/1 PLO.

You may ask, but you just said that it's 'more than enough'?? Well, PLO live is a weird beast, it generally plays A LOT bigger, averaging 4.5x or so BI stacks as the hours get smaller and it's not hard for the money to go in, at all.

I also have a small roll on Paddy where I'm grinding a bonus out on 25 PLO and having some fun in general. On top of this I have another small roll on stars where I'm trying to challenge myself to get into the top 1% for $1-5 tournys. They're basically just for fun and the occasional bink. I found the OM8 to be super soft and also great fun, they really let you let of steam after a long day of analysing Nozik.

So where I'm actually at and what I'm focusing on.

1. Finding a solid staker/invester that lives close so I can play live PLO
2. Try and put in more live volume so I simply don't need an staker, that would be a lot better
3. Talk to more people on skype that know their shit, not people who think they know their shit

So last night/ this morning I played the Titan. I was chip leader at the first break, then played some PLO cash for 25 mins where I managed to stack 3 people. People really don't know how to play plo.

Anyways, these Russian guys were like 'fuck the tourny, play tomorrow', they were obvs kinda pissed since I just took their money.

I end up busting trying to river bluff a double paired board and getting called by King high. The 30-38 year old woman was like 'I was committed'. Nh nh.

So I play till like 5 in the morning because these guys wouldn't let me leave. Up around £625 including the tourny spew, starting stack food and taxis. I had like 880 altogether I think.

Total live roll now around 3k, had to take out a few quid for Valentines and I want to take my nan to the cinema in reading week

Okay, so this is a kinda long story that starts on friday night.

I'm at my local casino, Grosvenor Ricoh and have found some guys actually willing to play PLO. So during the breaks in the tourny, we play and nothing really happens.

We all busto and decide to play 3 handed 1/1 dealers choice of amount of cards. I'm like fine, w/e. So both of these guys are your standard live PLO players. They're got a tonne of money from oil in Russia and essentially never stop playing. Now I need to note here, the casino was so overrun with players that they actually had a dealer shortage, so we were dealing ourselves in.

Mistake 1.

So the night goes pretty well for me and I end up leaving at like 4am with some friends.

I went back last night, didn't even bother reentering the tourny, just wanted to play these guys at cash. So I wait a couple of hours and one bustos and decides to play me HU. I'm like fuck yeah, go over to my friends and ask them if they can take a % of me and all is sweet.

So we play like an hour and I'm up around a stack, with about £450 on the table, he's on like £2xx. Anyway I go to the toilet and come back.

When I'm back, he has £800 on the table and asks me to put my £500 plaque into play before the hand. I'm, obv, pretty happy about this, so I oblige him and he deals (6 card PLO).

Now, it's important to note that when I got back, I actually see him talking to a couple of guys I was playing with tonight, who scarperd after I came over.

He deals. He 4 bets me preflop for the first time ever, I look down and have a super nutty hand and decide to call (£180 pot). I hit quads on a 669 flop. I check to him and he bets, I call. (£380). 669K, I lead out for £125, he raises to £250 and I Jam. Now, at this point, I was really fucking suspicious, like, I could tell a 9 was coming on the River. He starts saying, stuff like ( Oh have you got Kings) blah blah blah, then snaps me off with ofc, 99. River?

So I'm like, what the fuck, walk over to the Poker room manager and ask him to check the cameras. At this point the guy is looking like he's scooping up the chips. I tell him to leave them in place for a minute and he starts causing a ruckus.

Half an hour goes by and this guy manages to threaten my life twice, pretended to punch me all this kinda bullshit. Main Manager comes, takes him for a walk. I'm just sitting on my one dry chundering into my mouth hoping to God I was right.

I get taken to one side, 'it's being taken care off', fuck yes.
3 managers, me and this guy all go back to the table. I'm told that I will be given what I literally brought to the table. -£100, but like, w/e I just want this shit over with.

I get my money, he gets banned from every Grosvenor in the country. 3 hours later I sit to the left of his friend in a plo game, he doesn't say a word, I take 2 stacks of him, and that is that.

Things I learned: that people like me, who are relatively new to live, need to be less fucking naive.

Never leave your chips on the table.
Always play with a dealer.
Always make sure you have friends you can walk out the casino with.
Don't trust a soul.

In general, I would like to thank Grosvenor for sorting it all out, they literally had no responsibility over what was going on whatsoever, going above and beyond what they needed to do. The room manager knew the other guy and had a decent relationship with him, so allowed us to play like we did.

How can you play shady guys without a dealer? That really sounds like a recipe for disaster ♦
