Problem with 1920x1080 monitor

I have a 22" 1920x1080 monitor running at native resolution.
How many tables?

I usually run my tables set to roughly 1/4 the screen size, and the font in my HUD is 8pt.

I can see it fine.

Can you post a screen shot?
Perhaps instead of increasing font size that way, try just using a bigger font.

How far away is your face from your screen?
Maybe sitting closer might help.

When my monitor is set to it's native resolution all text and objects are very small at the Windows7 default text size setting of100%. So I increased the display text size setting to 140% (optional in Win7). This made text much more readable and is much better for everyday use.

But a major problem occurs whenever using PT4. The huds are all grouped out of position on the left side of the table window. If you try to move any of them to the right they disappear. Font size is not a problem at all.

I have discussed this with PT support and it is a known issue. Apparently PT4 does not support display magnification. The hud only functions properly at the 100% setting. Any other setting results in misalignment of the hud and it cannot be moved to the correct position.

But my main query is why is text so small at my monitor's native resolution setting? Is this normal or is there something wrong with my set-up?

Instead of display magnification, why not try using a larger font?

Useful link too.

But it's not only text that is small. Everything else is small as well. Toolbars are very narrow, buttons and icons are tiny. Open windows are often shrunk even when maximised.

Not too sure how to fix that apart from display magnification.

Although the monitor is a 1920x1080, what is your graphic card putting out?

Here is a quick test:
open this picture of the andromeda galaxy full size:

If it does NOT cover your full screen, then you have your display resolution set too high.

Sorry but how do I check the output of my graphics card?

I tried the test picture and it does not cover my full screen.

The display resolution is set to the recommended level of 1920x1080 however.

If the picture did not cover the full screen when viewed full size, something is amiss.

How are you determining that "The display resolution is set to the recommended level of 1920x1080"?

Are you going in through the control panel and checking it there?
If not, have a crack at it.

If you are checking the settings in control panel I'm baffled.
I have a smaller monitor -- 22" -- also 1920x1080, and I'm 60 years old and can see everything fine -- mind you, I need my reading glasses now

Yeah, through Control panel > adjust screen resolution. The top of the slider says "1920x1080 (recommended)".

A compromise solution I have found is lowering the resolution to 1366x768. This makes everything normal sized but is not quite as sharp.

I guess I will have to make do with that until Pokertracker update their software to support display magnification.
