5NL AK 3 bets EP min open

Preflop 3bet for value is fine vs min-open.

Flop raise is very thin on monotone board so I think our sizing should reflect that. $0.63 is fine. Especially since we know we are playing raise/fold at these limits.

Vs jam folding is good.

Even if it is thin and we expect most villains to continue with their draw, are we not technically raising for value here regardless of the fact we're not stacking off?

Yes, it's undoubtedly a value raise.

Larger value raise sizing doesn't necessarily mean additional value in the long-run however. Our hope she be that a smaller raise will extract value from a wider selection of FD's. Raising too large and we may isolate ourself against a bunch of stronger made hands and maybe the nut-flush-draw or something.

Are you implying that making it look as though we are strong will encourage more 3 bet shoves from the NFD here?, which is obv a disaster.

No, this is not what I'm implying.

I'm implying that the stronger we look the tighter the range of our opponent that continues.

If we raise small enough that he continues with all FD's and some worse made hands then we have a clear value raise.

There may be a point where our sizing is large enough that he doesn't continue with any worse hands except maybe his stronger FD's. Then suddenly we are not extracting value any more.

Also given our plan is to raise fold, why lose $1 when we only need to lose $0.60 AND get our opponent to continue with a wider selection of worse hands at the same time.
