5NL ATo 3 bets BTN from SB

Another spot where I slightly prefer calling in SB vs unknown villain. Often the hand dominates his BTN open range but is dominated by his call-3bet range, making for some awkward postflop situations.

Flop cbet is fine.

Turn is the classic result of 3betting such hands. Our hand is turned into a bluffcatcher and we are unsure of opponents bluffing frequencies. Would call down due to bet-sizing here but really not that excited about it.

In the middle of last year I stopped calling offsuit non paired hands from the SB as my results were worse than folding. If I'm to start calling again with the hands you've pointed out what pitfalls would you say I need to be wary of? I'm not sure if before i wasn't bluffing enough or was taking too many passive check call two streets and give up on the river lines.

Keep in mind the open raise sizing first of all. Vs a min-raise we should be defending very wide anyway. Vs large opens we can tighten up significantly.

As for pitfalls just keep in mind that we are not really looking to play large pots in this situation. The kind of hand we flop will often be worth one street or maybe 2 streets of value max.

Also due to inherent difficulty of playing OOP, good use of reads/stats will make our decisions much easier.
