Hello,

This blog will be more of a journal, where I'm going to track my progress as a poker player, write thoughts, goals, post hands/graphs etc. to keep myself motivated and, hopefully, to have something to look back at. Also I think it's a good idea to write a blog in english, so I could improve my english skills as well.

About me

I'm 21 years old, full time employed latvian, living in UK.

I started playing at school, when I was 16 and I was making quite decent pocket money. We used to play homegames as well. When I turned 18, maybe even earlier, I started playing online. By that time I still hadn't read any book or article about poker so I obviously had no knowledge and was loosing player.
Few weeks ago I began learning from basics. Right now I have ~100$ bankroll on various sites + I made a deposit on stars, so I would be tracked to PS, and achieve silver status to access more content. Year's goal is to keep improving. That's all.

So, I'm thinking about goals. (Yearly/monthly/daily) I have come to the conclusion, that I can't really set yearly goal right now, so I'll re evaluate at the end of January.

Goals for January is simply to be as productive as possible.
- go over bronze articles and videos once again before starting silver
- strengthen basics and apply knowledge into practice

Daily goals:
- Devote 6h/day for poker. 2/3 playing, 1/3 learning
- review session, post hands

I play 6 tables NL2

Hey jawoftheox,

Welcome to the blogs. :)

You seem to have everything planned out and I like the direction you are heading in.

Having a nice silver badge that opens up a lot of juicy content will really allow you to fast track your learning.

Good luck on your journey and I for one shall be following.

Cheers

Laz

Thanks, Lazza.
Yes, indeed, a LOT of new and in-depth content.

I think I won't play tomorrow, so I played little more today.
Overall I think it was very good session, didn't had many tough decisions. Tried some new stuff, found fold button in situations where couldn't before..

2.9k hands, profit +11 BI

Hey jawoftheox,

Nice session. We would all like to maintain that sort of win rate.

Being able to find the fold button is so important. Good players are not judged by the hands they play, they are judged by the hands they can let go.

This vid is my fave. I wouldn't be able to let it go.

Happy Grinding

Laz

Top of the game!

This week I'm +/- breakeven on 888, not much to add. Lost too many AI's when ahead preflop, but crushed on flop. Some profit on other sites.

Graph from 888:

Went through bronze articles once again and started silver. Got fired from job, after not being there on January 1st (wasn't the only one), so now got some more free time, I need to find another one though. I was working night shifts, and didn't mind that, I even liked it, but no more. Can't get into sleep routine, so was always tired and sleepy. Couldn't concentrate. Yesterday woke up at midnight, today 2AM, so need to change that within next week.

Was looking at my graph and the red line keeps growing, I don't really mind right now at NL2,NL5, but does it mean I'll need to completely change my approach, when climbing up the limits?
I'm considering buying BlackRain79's book, price is definitely worth it and it seems to be quite interesting.

Hey jawoftheox,

As long as your redline keeps heading up, there is no need to adjust. But when you move up, be prepared to adjust as you won't have as many opportunities to win uncontested pots.

Happy Grinding

But the good thing is that I don't feel bad, angry or frustrated.
That's not all for today, though.

Yea, thought that the best thing to do is shove, luckily he called with pocket tens.

Didn't thought that I can change the title so easy

Last few days was really really bad, both NL2 and NL6 just couldn't win. Lost 50$, many coolers and bad beats. So for the first time sensed variance and more importantly how it affects my mindset. Was quite disappointed, but I knew that it's just a matter of time.

I'm sick of NL2, so now let's boost playing volume and study as well.
Today was a great and sunny morning in UK, so a lot of positive emotions :)

FR on stars regular and zoom without HUD

Yesterday +26$ from freeroll and today finished 93rd of 8k players @ 5.50$ 30K GTD on stars for 38.13$, was really disappointed. Although I have no knowledge about MTT's I think I was doing well. Seemed as soft as freeroll, especially first two hours.

Oh, such a long time since last update.
Stopped playing at 888, since there is no traffic for FR, sometimes I play looser NL6 and NL10 tables, but not much and a bit 6MAX, trying to adopt.

PokerStars finally added 20$ bonus, after the last letter I sent. And wow, it took just a little bit over a month :f_biggrin:

27 SP short for gold status last month

Boom! I decided to play 100k hands a month, till the end of the year, so it's 1M overall. I moved from regular tables to zoom, so it's not that much.
So, generally, it's ~3k hands a day, wich I will definitely fail, I might fail 25k hands a week, but I will not fail monthly 100k, that's for sure! ;)

Boom! Gold status! Now I can watch Raskolnikov's "Champions Stand Up One More Time Than The Rest" Part two. Bujaka!

Boom! I will quit smoking! Today is the day one.

Morning.

Second day without smoking. Well, I feel fine. I woke up and I didn't even had an tiniest thought about smoking, like I've never been smoking before. Yesterday was a bit worse, I was quite nervous for the whole day, especially at work, but as I said, today is much better and I expect tomorrow to be even better, and on and on and on.

I didn't throw away my tobacco, I actually have a half-full pack on the fridge. I didn't changed my routine. I still go to kitchen every hour, hour and a half. I just don't smoke. I look through the window, think about some stuff, drink a lot of tea.

I don't like my blog anymore, I feel like I'm on a different page right now, on a fresh page. I either will start a new one, or will change this one. I have some more things on my mind regarding my health and everyday life, which I will think through in upcoming week :)

I will post updates regarding poker once a week, on saturdays or sundays, except if something special happens :)
