The Coaching Project

week in review
This week was a week of up and downs. When I keeped to my goals it went up and if not - in the other directions. When I plan the hand, analyse the board and handread permanently I make almost no mistake. If Im not concentrated its very expensive. I lost about at least 1000 $ once a month by making mistakes. That was just pots > 20 bb. All in all I make small progress and are excited for the next week.

Goals of the month (1) take up time (2) plan the hand (3) anlayse board structure --> up to the 25.03.2014
I played well in the last 2 days and followed my goals. I took enaugh time, plan the hand and analysed the boards. To avoid tilt I try to analyse every hand (> 20 BB invested + showdownhands) and ask myself, if I played the hand well. If yes that should reduce the danger to tilt.

hand of the day
What is your plan for the turn + river vs unknown (please explain why)?

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, €2.00 BB (2 handed) - PokerStars Converter Tool from http://flopturnriver.com/

BB (€200)
Hero (SB) (€308.98)

Preflop: Hero is SB with Q, 5
Hero raises to €4, BB calls €2

Flop: (€8) 6, 6, 5 (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets €6, BB calls €6

Turn: (€20) 5 (2 players)
BB checks, Hero ?

vs unknown villans range of hands is not entirely known but even so i think you can guess that they are playing a range of around ax, any gutshots otf that have overcards, possibly some fd's too kq-kt may call flop, pairs up to nines 6x and 5x hands given you minraised lots of these combos.

now seeing as most of this calling range has now got little showdown value and can either only call one street or has been completely crushed i think checking back the turn is the best option by far.

Then on the river calling any bet of 12 or higher up to 70 euro and raising any lower bets.

If checked to on the river i would bet 2/3rds pot and call a raise of up to 80.

What about when the king beats the pawn?

week in review
This week was an improvement to the last one. But I discovered that I have to many goals (just 1 or 2 goals are the maximum). That was shown when I play more than 1 table. I also thought about which is my biggest leak which cost a lot of money. The answer is tilt. How do I get on tilt? I have a situation and evaluate them.

When I lose a big pot I think that I deserved to win the pot and want it back. But that is wrong. I have to evaluate how I played to hand - if I can play it better and what can I learn about "how villain played the hand".

So may main goals will be (1) take up time and (2) analyse the hand. I will just consider these things when I play more than one table. When I play just 1 table I will add my old thought process like plan the hand, board anlayse, pay attention to betsizes and timing tells.

when our range of hands is percieved as capped we have to be ready to face overbets with the top of our range. 3.5 times the pot overbets or less i think we can call but any more and i think its getting to the pointt where its more likely they have the absolutes. We are proctected against larger bets by the fact we could have hit a higher fh on the river example we have jj river is j or we could have flopped quads :P

No. Try it again.

Goals of the month (1) take up time (2) analyse the hand --> up to the 12.04.2014

I did a great job the last two days. I did enaugh time and analysed the hands. By analysing the hands I got some reads I never get in the past. On nl400 I dont run so great (maybe 10 - 20 buys-ins below EV) so that I got small tilt problems when I lose some money. But Im getting better and better. Yeah.

Im great in take up time. I dont always analyse the hands when I should. I will try be be more focused in the future. As you can see even with 2 goals its not so easy keep them 100 %. Im sure it will get better in the next weeks.

Simply enjoy the hand. Unfortunately such villains are very seldom on nl400.

I like last week. I improved the hand analysis which help my winrate and my game. I got more reads and the tilt danger was reduced. In chess I added a new opening "stonewall" and tried to improve in technical things. At the weekend I could demonstrate my knowledge in a competition with my fater in law.

I'm a newbie but how can you have such a solid graph playing HU cash? Isn't the variance very high?

When you make great table selection you can win a lot.

Goals of the month (1) take up time (2) analyse the hand --> up to the 12.04.2014

In hte last day I dont pay enaugh attention to this things. I tinker with 3bet pots and ask my coach a lot about this situations. He suffered a lot. All in all I tried my best and take up my time and analyse the hands.

we block the straight nut flush and we could repping it, if we think we can fold a better hand...

do we have any read on villain? without any read we cannot fold as it is just a standard float and leaves us open to be exploited massively. However raising isolates us to a range that's beats us. I guess OOP the max ev is c/c T, c/c R and if we hit the nuts OTR and we have doubt he is going to be, maybe a small inducing bet.

what about betting the turn and how would you react to a raise?

seems like guy is a fish given stack size my line would be to bet turn as i would expect many many pair + fd's to continue calling.

If we get raised i expect 1 of 2 things very often vs a fish

1) he minraises our turn bet so we have good odds to call and go broke any club A or 9 river.

2) he shoves over our bet and we fold as we expect to be against 2pair+

We should go broke even if villains shoves the turn. He could do it with worse and even if we are behind we have some outs.

week in review
In the last week I learned a lot about how to react in 3bet pots. I ask my coach a lot and got a lot of information (about dry + semi-dry boards). In the next 2 weeks I will try to finish this topic with the last 2 possible boards. I got disctracted by coaching and reviewing all the videos so that my focus was not to 100 % on my goals take up time and hand analysis. I tried my best and will follow this goal for another 2 weeks.

At the weekend I relaxed with my wife, played some table tennis with her, went to a restaurant and watched the movie 300 in the cinema. In chess I added the nimzo-indian defense and updated my thougth process.
