Hi everyone!

Decided to start poker blog after reading few. I think it will keep me motivated to work on my leaks and to generally improve my game and poker expirience.

About me
35, married with 2 kids.
Working full time and managing to do some web-design though I am more attracted to web programming (php) but I lack motivation for large steps in that direction.
After stressful week I relax on mountain bike or just go fishing - being lucky to have small boat on small island close to town where I live :f_love:

My poker history
Started with SSS almost 6 years ago, was doing fine until some sites restricted buy-in amount to 40bb, after that switched to BSS, played NL10 and NL25 so-so. Quit poker in 2010 for family reasons.
2013. in October I was bored and decided to play few MTTs, got some free money from Coral and built my bankroll from 20 to 100$ in couple of days. And lost my bankroll in couple of days ♦
So I decided to learn poker. Again. From begining.

I deposited 50$ on Pokerstars in November, played NL2, mostly 16-tabling and doing lot of mistakes but managed to build my bankroll to 150$ by the end of the year and moved up to NL5.

Beginning was promising but got caught by downswing, moved back to NL2 and I was taking shots on NL5 Zoom as soon as I woul reach 20BI, moving down with less than 18BI.

No success during January and February.

At beginning of March got one day upswing on NL5 zoom, managed to reach 130$ but after that got some sort of "winning tilt", played stupid and busted again ♦

Afetr that my conclusion was that beside my game leaks my main leak was tilt on NL5 because I thought that I MUST win and losing even small pots was making it worse. My game on NL2 was not wih high winning rate but it was ok, NL5 though was complete disaster.

Anyway, cashed out all bonuses and rest of my bankroll and left 10$.

And finally My poker goals

--Work on my mental game (I used to laugh when losing AA to 72o)
--Work on my leaks, will post stats here if there is anyone willing to help
--Learn to play better
--Move up
--Build my bankroll from 10$ (irrelevant, will deposit another 10$ if I get busted ♦ )
--Get coaching sessions if my bankroll allows me

I will play mostly ZOOM, perhaps some tournaments as a side game but not regulary.

That was what I decided a week ago and this is the graph for last week:

So, I'm running hot atm and we will see how long it will last.

You seem to be a pretty solid winner at NL2, so I don't see why you wouldn't be a solid winner at NL5, the difference always seems big when you just move up, but the truth is that all micro limits should be beatable by anyone who put in the work!

I don't think I got your skype (haven't been on skype in forever!), but I will be happy to help you moving up to NL5, you probably just need to adjust to some stuff people do at NL5 which they don't do at NL2. :f_biggrin:

I managed to crush NL2 pretty solid, but no I'm BE after 40k hands on NL5..

JC - any help is appreciated :) I also think that I am capable to be winning player on NL5, just have to get rid of nasty habit of doing stupid and expensive mistakes :f_biggrin:

jawofthefox - yes, I think I owe some explanations about strategy and type of game I will play:

So, it will be fullring ZOOM, bankroll 20BI to NL5, then I will go up with 30BI to NL10 and I will go more up when I feel ready for moving up and when my bankroll allows :f_biggrin:
My BI for NL2 is 1/2 stack atm so I play tight till I double-up, after that standard play. Started like that because of 10$ starting "capital" and it is fine by now, obv.
Still not sure about it but I could also take few 1/2 stack shots later on NL5, before I grind 20BI for full stack game.

Short report for yesterday:

Played several satelites, lost couple of $$$, tilted. Not because I got beaten by stupid hands on stupid ways (how can anyone call 4-bet allin preflop with KJo???), I also played bad. The thing is, with tournaments, that you cant just rebuy stack and take chips back from the donk and that drives me crazy :f_mad:

Another day of grinding is behind me and I am slowly approaching to my first goal - 20BI for NL5. Today ran slightly below EV line, won 6$ with 12bb/100 (EV was 17,5/100) which is not bad.
More I play, more I am aware that downswing could hit easily so I was somewhat tight today, especially after got hit by few bad beats. Was running close to BE, hundreds of BB below EV line and then got lucky in KKvsAAvsQQ preflop allin, got third K on the flop and that made my day:

Nice to see more and more players from Croatia,
There is also one guy from Zagreb playing FR zoom and STT's in our blogs.

Seems like you know what are you doing, impressive results for now, keep up the good work, and keep us updated.

Also, what are your long term plans? Keep crushing FR tables through the stakes and move up quickly?

Another week is over and another good day is behind me.
Today played 5,1k hands with 22/100 winrate and I'm close to my first goal. ♠_cool:
NL5 shouldn't be so far now if I dont get hit by another downswing(bad thing that happens on fridays and make me lose money).

Current bankroll: 78$

I'm still struggling with this limit so I wont give any summaris, but impression is that generaly abc poker, tight play is enough to beat this limit. And that is reason why I didn't improve my game and didn't work on my game since I started this blog. Just playing tight, betting when I have something and folding when I dont have anything.
No point in bluffing, forgot how blind stealing looks like and 4+ betting rarely.

Sososo... ♠_confused:

What should I adapt for NL5? Any articles, videos that could prepare me for it?

Here are my stats, for stat experts(if any of those comes by):

I know that I should open wider and pay more attention to blinds

I played some tournaments, and lost couple of $(10 or so) on satelites so my bankroll doesnt look good as it should.

And my couple of free days are over, Tuesday is next working day and there will be less time for grinding, hopely that hour or so per day will be enough to finish the NL2 story by the end of the week.

I think you definitely should steal. Even NL2, no, especially NL2. Especially from SB. They will fold a ton. I believe in these stakes SB shouldn't be negative.. Other than that :f_thumbsup:

There is a big difference b/n NL2 and NL5. Unlike the small differences b/n NL5/10/25. Again a big difference (from what I've heard) from NL25 and NL50.

But I guess you already know about this ♦

Start stealing more from BU and SB (your RFI stat would have been nice to see) as this will be the main leak on NL5 which you can exploit. Put in the fold to steal stat in your HUD and adapt accordingly.

You can browse through hand evaluation forum and see what the best line would be to you.

Monday was 10$+ on NL2 Zoom and few $- on tourneys, continued playing into Tuesday and decided to play 2x NL5 zoom tables but with 1/2 stack BI together with 2 NL2 tables.

It went so-so, ran into some coolers but I'm adapting. Brakeven after 1k hands on NL5, lost few $ on NL2 so my bankroll now is 84$ which is more than 30 1/2 stack BIs for NL5. I could try it this way for a while, see how it goes and step back if I fall under 50$.

Short update - played 3k hands on NL5 by now, doesnt look bad - 5bb/100

Still making some obvious mistakes and stupid calls, also few times played with too much respect to oponents but still adapting... :f_grin:

Had really good run regarding cards and that is why I am not so satisfied, should have been much better.

Looking for some good videos that could help me improve my postflop game.
