Someone having a straight here is unlikey, since you block two K's and J8 shouldn't call pre-flop too often.
It's entirely possible someone hit a set though.

With the SB overbetting the pot like that, I'd like to fold most of the time, unless I have a reason to think otherwise he probably is holding a really good hand.

It's a small pot, we're not comitted yet, if we call this flop bet, we might have to call bigger bets later on, so just fold the flop.

If you think villain often does this as a bluff or with TP, just shove.

Preflop is fine. Could consider raising larger like PascCI says.

In all reality there is a decent chance we are behind SB's donking range here especially when he overbets. We still have a gutshot though and sometimes the best hand so would call flop and consider folding a decent amount of turns.

Shove flop would be an overplay here. Turn fold is fine as played.

I had the same feeling.

Reason I don't bet 4x bb or more is I don't want to be exploited. I raise everything the same on NL2. So medium suited, AQ, QJs PP.. etc. Will be 3x BB raise. On higher stakes I have different betting sizes based on position. But never by hand.

Why should I raise QQ+ with more? Villains will notice I bet bigger with better hands...

I understand you concern about being balanced.

A lot of guys are simply not paying attention to what you are doing at 2nl though, so in some cases it can be ok to deviate from a balanced preflop strategy. For example, MP3, BTN, and SB, could all be fish given their stack size, and probably couldn't care less what your open raise size is - they are mainly interested in their two cards.
