Greetings all,
I thought I would start a blog (more for my records than anything) of my attempt to move up from NL2 to ??? who knows. I realize this isn't terribly original, however PokerStrategy was nice enough to put this section here...
A little about me then. I'm not looking to do this as a living, I don't live in a place where you can get by on a couple thousand a month. I have a family, a house, some bills... ya I basically need a job to make a go of it. That's where the plan takes a detour. You see I blew up my back and am currently on the wait list for surgery sometime in the late spring or early summer. As such I'm off work with quite a lot of time on my hands.
And here we are full circle. Poker. It's something I've enjoyed for a few years now, but never took seriously. I'd throw $50 in maybe twice a year and have some fun at 2 in the morning when I couldn't sleep. I'd play some tournaments and some SnG's, hardly ever caring about what type of BRM I had (I didn't because it was just fun money I expected to lose anyways lol).
I'm not sure what is different this time. I bought some books. I read a bunch of the articles here. I've watched a bunch of videos. I guess I may have been inspired by Felix Schneiders Grinding It Up series (it's excellent if you haven't seen it). But in short I feel like giving this a go and seeing where it may lead.
I had a little under $25 on Full Tilt, so I decided to start with that. Sticking to a BRM of the standard 40 BI's for next level, starting at NL2. I started this sometime in early February, so I have been going for a couple weeks now, and I've been playing a mix of 4-6 tables or 2 Rush tables. I tried the 4 Rush tables and my win rate went right to hell, so I'll take half the hands at 3 times the win rate.
My goals for February:
Maintain a winning rate of play. Basically play my best and not put myself in losing situations.
Get Silver status by the end of the month to start getting some rakeback
Look to play 2x 90-120 minute sessions at least 5 days a week.
Watch the rest of Felixs' video series
Read some more articles
Post here with something at the end of each session (be it a hand or a graph or an off colour joke)
Get bankroll above $60
As everyone likes pictures, here are some graphs.
The first 14k hands in February didn't like me that much

But it's started to come back around. This is as of the end of tonight. I guess I don't feel that bad on some of the suckouts. The two big ones were QQ vs AA and KK vs 555 where I spiked a K vs an agro donk who was just spewing (not a single tear was shed for him either)
