To spice the talk up with rants about life away from poker and sports psychology, could you tell us more about your former full-time band? What kind of music did you play? How much did it fascinate you? Was that a useful experience and what lessons of it are helping you on the current poker and coaching path?

It's the charm and horror of poker (and the reason why it prints money) that any player's judgment gets clouded so easily

I have a doubt about regression to the mean, though.
As anyone, I find it hard to distinguish between 'just variance' and deterioration of the game or life quality.
While I agree that a bad run (and monetary result considerations in general) shouldn't be the reason to increase the frequency of checking up with a coach (I think that being coached a bit is useful at any time) as long as the player is sure that his/her decision quality hasn't degraded, it shouldn't be the reason to lower the frequency either.
And it's important to identify mental leaks early, not hurrying to attribute them to 'real life variance'.
To take my actual example, one of my neighbours has recently bought an electric guitar and jams at weekends, sometimes waking me as I tend to grind at night and sleep during the day. I have a blunt taste of music (mostly listening to something that's not even legit metal), but I think he yet has a lot to learn, mildly speaking.
I might write the sleep disturbance off to 'variance' and accept it, quietly hoping that he'll cease soon. But there are at least two constructive fixes:
1. Get out and buy good earplugs, which is a long overdue task.
2. Talk to the neighbour and sort out jamming hours that are comfortable for us both, possibly with me coming to his place to listen.
I mean, room for action and improvement can and should be found both in peak and underperformance periods.

Yes, I agree that there is little reason to reduce the frequency of working with your coach when going through a bad run - as long as you have a pre-existing relationship with your coach.
The danger is that players seek out a new coaching solution when going through a downswing. For example, a good player who has never had a coach hits a nasty run and hires one. When this happens, they are running the risk of iatrogenics (seeking treatment that ultimately harms them, rather than curing them), and attributing the subsequent return to good results as evidence of good coaching, rather than accepting the natural law of regression.
In other words, this player may receive detrimental coaching, experience better results, and confuse correlation with causation. As such, they may extend their deal with this new coach, not realising the harm that they are doing to their game.
It happens a damn lot more often than most people recognise!
Collin Moshman is my idol. He is both a very good player and very good at explaining his thought process, which is rarer than you might think. He has also answered all of my questions outside of the coaching session, which he had no obligation to do, and it just goes to show what a great guy and dedicated coach he is!
Excuse me if it is some generally known fact, but why there aren't any videos of coaching in video section?

I went to the video section, and put the word coaching in the search box.
Then I slid the limit slider all the way to the left.
Then I put the 3 drop-downs to "All"
And for good measure, I checked all status boxes from gold and below.
I found lots of videos -- In fact there was a new coaching video by Uri Peleg from yesterday.
If you're looking for videos by Colin Moshman, just put Moshman in the search box and there's loads.
Or am I missing something again?
