Trying to reach new heights on and off the table

Thursday evening update:

I played 2 sessions with 4 tables so far and did get in 49 9-man hypers.

After today i decided to go down in tables again and only play 2 tables to improve better in my game specifically. I think its a pretty big point when trying to increase the ROI and not try to push into multitabling too fast. sure there are some guys playing 16 tables, but i don't think i'm ready for that yet! _cry:
I really wanna be comfortable with playing 2tables first and then start building it up from there slowly again. So this means also cutting down on volume and putting more time into studying SnG strategy.
ROI is currently at 2,2%, which is horrible since i was at over 7% few days ago. I was playing nitty with my short stacks and also started tilting (mentally) after i ran that bad over a few hypers. I really hope i can turn things around now and make the rest of the month count!

Big mistakes:

- way too tight during mid-stage
- way too tight in short-handed-play
- not opening SB/BU enough
- blinding away with micro-stack cause of passive play with micro-stack
- over-aggressive in multiway-pots
- bluffing stack away on low board
- marginal flips during early/mid stage
- wrong timing for 3-bets

Plans:

For the next time i will try to put in more MTTs and focus on playing my 100% every time i do play rather than just mindlessly 4tabling for 3 hours. I will post graphs for this week on sunday, but they look desastrus. Now i try to get that confidence back and start playing real poker again to get the results i want!
I made a decision to switch to the 6-man hypers for now and take a look into the 18-man turbos once i reach SilverStar status for the month. Reasons for the switch are that the bubble is more important in 6-max, less variance and also i feel like there is more study-material and possibilities of improvement.

Thats it from me :)

Cheers and gl at the tables

Last week of the month is already running and i have a bit of a motivation-low. i didn't sleep much on some days and had to go for a sleep in the afternoon last week, which is really not good with just getting up at 8:30.

I can't really complain about my results, i played horrible last week in the 9-man hypers and didn't play enough volume. the MTTs went way better since i was so much more focused while playing them (auto-pilot and nitty in SnGs). on saturday i even had a deep run in the big 0,55$ and finished at place 122/12054, while the last spot was crucial (pushing Q5s from HJ on full table with 7BBs and tight image).

I did watch a lot of gripsed videos last week about mindset-topics and some 6-man hyper strategy videos. it should help me handling my current issues better in the future and hopefully improve my game :). Taking the initiative as short-stack is probably my biggest leak, so i need to work on that aggression-factor _biggrin:

Over the last time since i have HoldemManager i feel like i'm checking it too much and change my decision-making on the results over a short sample (happened last week big times :f_cry: ).

Right now i plan to play 20hours+ per week, but i will start to increase my volume mid/end of july since i will have more time for poker. For the rest of the month i wanna play at least 25 6-man hypers per day to reach SilverStar status in time and work on ICM more, other than that there is not too much planned so i really hope i can get my sleep back and be more consistent with it for the future...

Have a good day! :)

Here is a little update from the last 2 days:

Hey guys,

Things are going pretty good playing the 6-man hypers. i was only 2-tabling during the last 2 days, since i wanna try to recognize every spot and fix the mistakes i make better (all the mistakes i make would add up to a bigger amount when i were playing multiple tables). also i prioritized learning over just playing straight-away! :)

I feel like my game has improved overall significantly and is more consistent now, every time a spot comes up i try to really think and consider all the options and possible outcomes.

Soon i'm gonna start playing 3,5$ 6-man hypers (my current results for the 1,5$ 6-man's are crushing with 20% ROI over 200tournies, i was running slightly hot for sure, but i still like it ). bankroll is currently at 248,47$ after 65$ of profits in the last 2 days.

Sometimes i was playing bit too wide with speculative hands from SB during early-stage and making some over-aggressive postflop-barrels against passive opponents.

I was watching some 6-max hyper videos and analysed some of my open-shoves for appropriate range after my session. over the next days i will go over some hands in the ICM trainer and analyse more of my open-shoving spots.

Besides that i'm doing my sit-ups/push-ups every day and not missing out on going cycling every day, but sometimes i'm still struggling with eating unhealthy stuff when i'm too lazy to cook properly... :f_mad:

Here is my hand from yesterday, with which i busted the Privilege Freeroll at place 15/24368 (opponent had AhKs):

Last few days were going good overall, i'm alright with everything i worked on and confident for july. i played 155hypers the last 3 days with 2 tables and took part in the weekly freeroll on saturday, wasn't running really good, but also didn't play as good and slightly too passive on levels 2-4. when i felt like i wasn't playing at my maximum i always finished my session and tried to get my head away from it and ignore the results. unfortunately i still lost 10,80$ after reaching my all-time highest bankroll on thursday. i worked with the ICM trainer and calculated some of my spots after my sessions. also i finally implemented schnitzelfischs' "clearing your head"-principle with different folders for my tasks and other lists, which i will update every week on sunday.

From now on i will start to put in more and more 3,50$'s and focus more on quality than quantity, i will aim to play at least 30hypers every day tho. all in all i feel pretty confident for the future and feel like i found a good balance for all my stuff.

Here are my results for this week and june:

Hey guys,

I wasn't able to play any poker on monday/tuesday cause i fell sick and was basically not able to do anything. So i just played 3days so far this week with only 75hypers (52x 1,5$ and 23x 3,50$). Besides that i was mainly reading in bed. Now it's time to get stuff back going.

Played quite bad today on the bubble on some spots, profit for last 3 days is +3,69$.

Next update with more content is going to be on sunday.

Enjoy the world cup, Cheers :)

Weekly Update:

It has been 3 days now since my last update. For the future i plan to make a bigger update every week on monday with poker-results, improvements and my goals.

Last week didn't go that good :(. I basically didn't score in any MTT, only had one minor cash. Also i wasn't able to play on monday and tuesday cause i fell sick, so i just played 13hours for the rest of the week.

Not only was i running short on good hands over the week, i was also playing horrible/spewy during the early stages again. It's not a problem with my mental game tho, simply playing bad whats the good point about it. Mainly the bad post-flop-bets, mistakes on the bubble and over-aggressive pushes during lvl1/2 did put down my expectation trastically.

Also only played 134hypers during those 5 days with some shots at the 3,50$ 6-man hypers and total loss of the week was at 30,23$ in the end.

I definately have to improve my ICM and bubble-play now, since i feel like it should be easy to beat the 1,50$ hypers hard, which i'm obviously not doing right now. Session-Reviews and ICM-Training is even more of a priority now! _grin:

Weekly Goals:

- play 175 games (3hours of play on 6 days)
- play 7MTTs or more
- 1:30hours of ICM-Training and detailed analysis
- work on psychological poker-articles
- work on poker-videos
- go cycling 25minutes every day
- cook healthy on 2 days (tuesday/saturday)
- brainstorm important tasks on sunday for next week
- look for a sweat-partner in the forums
- update blog 3 times
- create schedule for MicroMillions and get ready for some grinding

I'm sure i can achieve all of those goals, even tho it seems like a lot. _biggrin:

And here is the winnings-graph for last week (trail for HM2 ended yesterday and i installed PT4 now to check it out):

Graph: 6-man hypers last week

Hello everybody,

i'm playing the 1,5$ 6-man hypers since 20th of june now and result so far is +27,36$ (+52,71$ EV) after 355tournies. i feel like my game improved quite a lot during the last few weeks, but i still don't feel alright with my ROI. Also i feel like 20hypers per day is just not enough to get volume to make a decent profit.

For the next time during the MicroMillions i plan to play a lot of hyper-satellites, the good thing about them is that i can play way more of them since they only last like 5mins. in my opinion the micro-stakes hyper-satellites are really soft after i played a bunch of them over the last few days and i love the fact that they're basically just about ICM. if everything is going fine i'm also going to increase my number of tables and try to play straight-forward ICM without bigger mistakes. hope i can collect some T$ which will invest in 6-man hypers after the MicroMillions or use it for some MTTs.
the rake for the 1,15$ satellites is only 0,02$ which feels like they can be extremely profitable since most of the players are way too tight-passive. Hopefully i can play 1000hyper-satellites over the next 2weeks and clear my last reload bonus for 10$. when i can reach 7,5% ROI that would be 64,75$, the more the better.

Already played 51 hyper-satellites today and played solid overall.
The switch to the hyper-satellites went really well, in the near future i will put in different limits (since i'm only playing 1,15$ satellites right now) and maybe start playing more than 2 tables. Hopefully i can put in a massive volume over the next 2weeks up to the 3,75$ hyper-satellites.

So far i'm 8,07$ (6,84$ EV) in the plus after 135 hyper-satellites. I fixed my range for suited/off-suited connectors a lot and improved my SB-range overall. Variance plays a huge part, since you sometimes only get 2-5hands and if you lose a flip, well thats it.
Also most of the time i made appropriate calls (still a bit on the tighter side).

On Saturday i cashed in the weekly 30k GTD VIP-MTT for 6$ on rank 858/5792 after my AKo got cracked from A5o for 15BBs Co vs BU pre-flop all-in. Super confident with my play during the whole tournament! _biggrin:

Last weeks goals:

:spade: partly done - played 132/175 STTs (only played 5days)
 done - played 9/7MTTs
 done - 1:30hour of ICM-Training and hand analysis
 done - worked on psychological articles
 done - worked on 3 poker-videos
:spade: partly failed - went cycling 23minutes on average every day (missed 1day)
:club: failed - only cooked on 1/2 days
 done - did do brainstorming on sunday
 done - opened thread to find sweat-partner
 done - updated blog 3 times
 done - did set up schedule for MicroMillions

My goals for this week are:

  • 600hyper-satellites or more
  • 7MTTs or more
  • improve ROI in hyper-satellites
  • increase bankroll and start playing up to 3,75$ hyper-satellites
  • work on 7 or more videos
  • update blog 3 times
  • 20minutes of reading every day
  • 40 or more sit-ups and push-ups every day
  • 25minutes of cycling every day
  • get more than 6:30hours sleep every day

Update:

Already played quite a lot this week and worked on my game (especially hyper-satellite open-shove-ranges). After 12:30hours of playing hyper-satellites i've already down 266. For my last reload bonus i only need 34VPPs now which could be done by the end of this week. This weekend i plan to grind hard like never before and get at least 600hypers in at the end of the week. Unfortunately i won't get SilverStar status this month cause the hyper-satellites don't give as much VPPs (except i would start mass-multitabling which i'm not so confident with). While working with PT4 now for more than a week i feel it suits me better than HM2 cause of it's simplicity and better Tools and HUD (just my opinion ).

MicroMillions MTT Results:

MM 001 - 6:00pm - 0,11$+R - 43074/64747 (8442paid):
busting after 4rebuys on lvl5 and didn't rebuy again

Satellite MM02 - 6:32pm - 1,65$ - 118/228 (31tickets):
completely missplayed a set with initiative BvB 16BBs deep and finally busted by 3-bet-shoving 12BBs with 88 and getting called by two

Satellite MM04 - 8:50pm - 50FPP - 47/194 (28tickets):
playing really good during early/mid and hitting important boards for max value; then getting cripled by loosing 64%/36% ahead by calling 5BB-push from HJ with AQo and then had to push my 3BB stack with 72o from un-opened SB next orbit and bb has AJ and did win it

MM05 - 0:30am - 3,30$ (satellited in for 1,00$) - 3553/14620 (2025paid):
started out pretty good and made strong post-flop plays; then a dream spot came up when a 4BB stack open-shoves in front of me, i make a small 3-bet with AA from BU and get a 4- and 5-bet from the blinds (i had 80BB-stack at that time) and call, so we go 4-way all-in to the flop and i can hold against KK, KJs and T9s _biggrin:. so i was up to 180BBs+ i tried to only play comfortable spots and got some nice value and was constantly building my stack. then i had 22 from mid and min-raise with 65BBs, get 2callers behind and hit my set. so i make 55% pot on a wet flop and get 2calls again, turn comes blank and un-suited, i bet 55% again to make draws pay off and the shorter stack flats me (he has 5,8k left with 14,2k pot). then the river comes in third spade, we get the money in and he shows K high flush against my set. (i feel like i should've already bet the flop bigger now, but can't change it  ). still had a moderate 27BB stack after and was playing really good. when the blinds were increasing i felt like i had to steal with QJo from un-opened BU with 9BBs against a nit and a lose cannon in the bb with almost 70% VPIP (he was second in chips and was just going crazy every hand he got involved in ). so he defs his bb with his 55BBs with J8s and i was happy for a minute and hoped he won't hit the board, but unfortunately he did already on the flop and i busted _mad:. if i would've won this one i probably would've run ITM, but can't change it. still feel like i played one of my best MTTs ever.

Played confident and well over the weekend, but still lost some buy-ins in the hyper-satellites overall :(.

MTT Results:

Satellite MM 022 - 6:45pm - 125FPP - 1/58 (13tickets) - ticket won:
hyper-satellite MTT --> super funny format

MM 022 - 7:00pm - 8,80$ (satellited in for 125FPPs) - 11986/24242 (4950paid):
not getting many hands; failed barreling; getting 3-bet against my steals frequently

Satellite MM 024 - 9:04pm - 30FPP - 29/78 (17tickets):
really slow structure; aggressive table and lots of c-bet-folds from me

Satellite MM 024 - 0:09am - 0,65$ - 1/45 (14tickets) - ticket won:
hyper-satellite MTT

MM 024 - 0:30am - 2,20$ (satellited in for 0,65$) - 1077/14102 (1800paid) - cashed for 5,64$:
good deep-stack play pre-/post-flop; hitting good boards; strong in BvB during late-mid; strong c-betting
