PokerStars - $0.50 PL Hi (6 max) - Omaha Hi - 5 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

BTN: 98.5 BB
Hero (SB): 100.5 BB
BB: 160.7 BB (VPIP: 19.57, PFR: 15.20, 3Bet Preflop: 7.85, Hands: 5,268)
UTG: 119.38 BB (VPIP: 0.00, PFR: 0.00, 3Bet Preflop: -, Hands: 1)
CO: 147.56 BB (VPIP: 35.89, PFR: 10.18, 3Bet Preflop: 5.95, Hands: 1,546)

Villain was tagged as fish but he wasn't that terrible so I retagged him as regfish, lacks positional awareness (EP open 10, CO 12, BTN 24), 44 cbet, 55 fold to cbet (62 in 3bet pots (8/13)).
Note: - quite weak and able to fold rivers

Hero posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has 5♦ 7♣ 8♥ 9♣

fold, CO raises to 3.5 BB, fold, Hero raises to 11.5 BB, fold, CO calls 8 BB

We had a lengthy discussion about 3betting this hand from SB and I'm still not sure about it but w/e.

Flop: (24 BB, 2 players) K♣ 8♠ A♠
Hero bets 16 BB, CO calls 16 BB

I was not sure whether to cbet or not because of his tight opening range which hits this board more often than an average reg's range.

Turn: (56 BB, 2 players) 6♥
Hero ?

Very interesting spot as two characteristics about him are opposing themselves here.
One is the same from the problem with cbetting, his range is quite narrow to begin with so this board hits him more than others.
However, he seems quite bad and would call flop too wide here with weak aces that can barely improve and might be dead as well as ambitious draws like QsJsJ9 or something similar.
What's your play here and why?

poor 3bet OOP vs a tight range with a non nutty hand, not sure what were you trying to achieve?

as played, once you get called OTF you are getting called OTT very often as well IMO, so you could check and pray silently that he checks behind ;)

I really don't like the 3b.

Dunno what to do ott. I don't think u will get a lot of folds.

Hi,

like the guys mentioned, this is not a 3b you want to be making vs a 10% range. OTT you have 40% vs top 2; add FE to that and i wouild make a bet/call of around 43bb's.

Skod

I decided to pot it, it's 73 behind and 56 pot. Does betting less than pot have any merit? I never have a b/f range.

Hi,

no with that stacksizes prob not. But if you were slightly bigger you could easy have a b/f range there.

why do you mention the equity vs such an unlikely holding as a top 2?
would you cbet OTF ?

I think the equity of top 2 is in general the same as villains continuing range on this board by an estimation. So i always like comparing how my hand fares vs top 2.

Yeah def cbet flop.

Skod
