Gl with that ...
No lag, no luck? So it seems at least when I lose with QQ vs 99 because dallie hits his third 9 on the turn...
Hi Drakhor,
Just read your blog from the start (except you lost me in the middle with all your anti-foreigner crap.. tut tut X(), great posts other than these though.
I'm currently going through the same early downswings that you experienced way back at the start and actually take some solace from your determination and committment to suceed.
Just wanted to say, well done and keep the posts coming.
Think I actually played you in one of those Titan freerolls, the name rings a bell, probably the one where I bubbled at 21st to allow you into ITM lol.
Bart.
Damn, I should use my new Mod powers and delete those posts without leaving a mark... ![]()
In any case, I wish you good luck, EagleStar88. As a beginner, everything looks bleak, the downswings seem to take no end, you become frustrated and consider giving up. But with every further hand you play, the more experience you get. The longer you play, the less you start to care about phases where things don't go so well, simply because you realise that they will end again eventually. ![]()
Working on the strategy articles definitely helped me as well (even though I wouldn't have had access to them the normal way), so you should really try to increase your rank ASAP. I can assure you that there is a lot of value to be found in the Silver and up articles (especially those I'm currently working on. ♦), so give it your best shot. But of course, don't forget about bankroll management! ![]()
Oh, and btw... I'm a misanthrope. That means I hate you, and everybody else, for no apparent reason.
Heck, I even hate my neighbours. Granted, one of them is a Belgian, but that's not the point here....... ♦
Being a Moderator now is certainly nice, however it also has its shortcomings. With this status, I can no longer be my real self. I have to step on the brake at times and not always post as impulsively as I did before.
However, there are things I just have to get rid of, and thus I've dusted off my LiveJournal account, and decided to dedicate my first ever entry there to something that bothers me lately.
So, enjoy the read, and let me know what you think... Preferably there, on LiveJournal, but feel free to post here as well if you want to.
Hrmm... it seems I always do better if there is some sort of problem. 2 weeks ago, I reached the final table despite a laggy connection which made it almost impossible to play. Today, I had a (slight) headache to begin with, and I got even further this time. 5th place is quite impressive as I was almost out early on already. And especially the situation when I defended my big blind with T7o. ♦
Was it a bad beat for the other guy though? No, not really. It was a 60:40 situation after all, I only had a few BB's left, I was in the big blind myself and I was pretty certain to have two live cards. Just because the button open-raised didn't have to mean that he had aces or kings. I had no choice, I had to defend with any two... and it worked out.
It's a shame though that there were only 65 people who had signed up. With more players, I would probably have gotten more points for my 5th place, and I certainly need them if I want to make it into the $10k freeroll.
Guess I'll have to make it to the FT again in the remaining tourneys...
I really start to enjoy posting in my LiveJournal... ![]()
[EDIT]: Btw, this was my 500th post! ♦
nah, can't do that here... maybe on my LiveJournal. ![]()
[EDIT]: I just saw that those responsible decided to remove my EPT news, and put up vhallee's again, after there were some obvious edits. Oh well, if that's the kind of "quality" that they want...
[EDIT2]: I've posted my EPT news in my LiveJournal now, for those of you who want to read quality news.
I just published this news, with almost up-to-the-minute updates. Now that's a service, huh? ![]()
I wonder where Mr. Super News Editor is... ![]()
[EDIT]: Ok guys, I've updated the news again after Day 2 came to an end. Enjoy.
ffs... I win today's tourney, and then it doesn't count because some had problems logging in. ![]()
The points should still count, at least for those who made it to the final table. After all, they've been active, at least at some point, and the final table also had more active players than sit outs...
Sucks...
[EDIT]: At least I busted Soy.
33rd and 42nd... that's it for the spot in the Lucky Loser freeroll then, which I would have had for sure due to my win if last week's tourney hadn't been cancelled...
Couldn't win a single coin flop today (AQ vs 88, AKs vs JJ), then I lose with the better hand because of a lucky hit on the river, and in the other one with AJ against AQ despite hitting my J on the turn...
It's a conspiracy!
And rigged anyway! ![]()
Whew, what a relief that I am no longer a Moderator. Seriously, I was growing sick and tired of not being able to speak freely anymore, to hold back all the time because it could give PS a bad image (as if that doesn't already happen without my "help"... I only have to point at the name of the highest user status...).
I can't even congratulate a player for cheating herself into a freeroll? How far have we come? This is worse than the Patriot Act. I still live in a democracy here in Luxembourg, and I won't give up my right of freedom of speech, and my right to say what I want. If that means I no longer have a PS Icon in the news comments, then so be it.
Are you always this negative? I read a lot of your blog and pretty much every entry has some negativeness over it. Why?
If you hate PS that much, then why bother being here. I dont't mind that you're pissed and that you think PS sucks. And i agree with you that freedom of speech is a beautiful thing. But if this place sucks so bad, then why bother being here?
(And this is a serious post. Not some idiot-get-a-life-post. I find this interesting)
Cheers,
Kimber88
Yes, I am always this negative. I not only hate PS and think it sucks (actually it itself doesn't, only its people
), but humanity and life in general. That's the definition of a misanthrope after all, which I claim to be in many of my posts. ♦
Anyway, I think I have to thank FrozenRope, in more than one way. She not only freed me from the chains of the Moderator status, but she gave me the determination I needed to get this far in yesterday's last tournament and thus make it into the Lucky Loser Freeroll. Sure, I had good cards which were ideal for confrontations, I won most of my coin flips for a change and also had a few lucky suckouts, and overall a good run, but I might not have made it this far if it hadn't been for the starting situation prior to the tournament.
Seeing her sit out yet again until half of the field had already dropped out ignited the fire that kept my will to defeat her alive. I really wanted this success, to show her that she cannot cheat herself into a shot at the $10,000 prize money by simply sitting out and hoping her competitors drop out first. It was this flame of anger that made me play aggressively, but at the same time also made me reconsider my decisions in some spots. Yeah, I might have been bluffed at times, but I think I also made a couple of nice laydowns (top pair, etc.) to not risk my stack and thus my shot at the last spot in the freeroll.
And who knows, maybe she made it after all in the end. Pyrts, or whatever his nick is, dropped out rather early, as did MakiPoker and DremarAA, so that it could well be that she held on to her 18th spot while I moved into 17th, or even higher.
So, thank you, FrozenRope / IrishMermaid. Without your "help", I probably wouldn't have made it.
Last night, I entered a 250 + 25 KO tourney on FTP with 1,800 entrants. In the end, I made it to the final table and finished 9th for about 5,300, but I only knocked out 3 guys throughout the event... weird.
Too bad it was only a Play Money one.
In other poker-related news: Lucky Loser Freeroll tonight, but damn, I feel rather tired. Didn't sleep so well last night, maybe it's related. However, should I nap now or not? I always did better in my tournaments when I was having some sort of problem here (heavy lag, headache, no nap before). On the other hand, I was top fit for the last one, and it got me into the Top 3.
Guess I'll have to see how I feel later...
I used my Dirty Dozen token today, which I won in the cancelled League match #8. Unfortunately, I had no luck with it though.
I then decided to log on Party and play another $1 SnG... and won it. That's now $5 profit in 7 $1 SnG's! Quite a nice ROI I'd say. ![]()
What? Lucky Loser Freeroll? Yeah well, what's there to say? I got my chips in with the better hand pre-flop (AJo vs KJs), and the guy flopped his two pairs. Nothing much to say about it...
In case anybody wonders why there was no biography yesterday (and those who snoop at the German page know it should have been Barry Greenstein), well, it's not my fault. ![]()
Some technical problem prevented me from having access to it. :/
Not like it really matters anyway. Thanks to the handful of people who actually read those articles I had to translate daily now this past week because I wasn't told about them earlier. Guess it was lucky that I'm not a festive guy, huh?
Props to lennert for the Stu Ungar addition, and to Kimber88 for being the only one who acknowledged my work.
The rest of you can go... nevermind.
Bloody New Year, suckers!
