PokerStars - $0.50 PL Hi (6 max) - Omaha Hi - 5 players
Hand converted by PokerTracker 4

Hero (CO): 144.5 BB
BTN: 100 BB (VPIP: 20.02, PFR: 12.89, 3Bet Preflop: 5.87, Hands: 1,196)
SB: 127.26 BB (VPIP: 25.90, PFR: 16.27, 3Bet Preflop: 7.94, Hands: 166)

UTG: 154.92 BB (VPIP: 52.57, PFR: 2.29, 3Bet Preflop: 1.23, Hands: 180)

SB posts SB 0.5 BB, BB posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has J♥ J♠ 2♠ K♦

UTG calls 1 BB, Hero raises to 4.5 BB, fold, fold, BB calls 3.5 BB, UTG calls 3.5 BB

Flop: (14 BB, 3 players) 9♠ 2♦ 2♣
BB checks, UTG checks, Hero bets 8 BB, BB calls 8 BB, UTG raises to 45.36 BB, Hero ???

I feel a bit bad about posting this hands as it's not really a theory question, just "does he have it or not"? Talked through this with MrTrocks and he said fold, and I think that's what most of you are going to say. I just wonder why he would pot 99 or 92. A2 is more likely, but then he also has all the other random deuces. I think fun players might just think "he raised pre, put him on AA" and go with their trips because it's "for value".

Spoiler

Hero raises to 140 BB and is all-in, fold, UTG calls 94.64 BB

Turn: (302 BB, 2 players) 6♣

River: (302 BB, 2 players) 9♣

Players agreed to run it twice.

Turn #2: (302 BB, 2 players) K♣

River #2: (302 BB, 2 players) T♦

UTG shows 3♣ 2♥ 7♥ 3♠ (Three of a Kind, Twos)
Board #1 (Pre 30%, Flop 21%, Turn 13%)
Board #2 (Pre 29%, Flop 21%, Turn 5%)

Hero shows J♥ J♠ 2♠ K♦ (Three of a Kind, Twos)
Board #1 (Pre 70%, Flop 79%, Turn 88%)
Board #2 (Pre 71%, Flop 79%, Turn 95%)

Hero wins 148.5 BB
Hero wins 148.5 BB

Folding this would have been a terrible mistake, and yeah it's results oriented but I just can't seem to stop being a calling station :/

Vs this player and with no dynamic I'm folding.

I'm not folding this to a player with these preflop stats. He'll flop way more combos of trips than the average player and we're doing just fine against that range. Don't forget, most stationy players do not make a large difference between kickers unless it's perfectly visible. In this spot I go along with your assessment that he could overplay a lot of trips, so it's a pretty confident re-jam in my book.

I disagree that stationy players don't make a difference. We are in a terrible shape vs A2xx which is imo the most likely hand here; he could easily pot 92xx as well.

I added that they do see the difference if it's visible. Some stations are completely ignorant to kickers, some are only a little, some play 100% face up. No station is the same. Until we know more about the type of station we shouldn't generalize how they're gonna play their trips.

Yeah you said station. But stations usually call, that's why they are calling stations, they don't pot raise trips without kickers...

I didn't argue that. What I'm saying is that we have to know exactly the type of station we're up against before making a strong adjustment to our gameplan. Our read on villain may be off or even incorrect, that's a very common mistake.

I definetly agree. But my default game play is to give someone credit when he pot raises here 3way.
