yes I said WRISTS.... both of them.... lol

Went to walmart to get a elbow tensor pad to help me out because I work tomorrow and need to lift crap. Hopefully I can do the job....

life wise, I was going to buy a complete skateboard for 75 dolalrs but the guy didn't show up so I pretty much wasted 1 1/2 hours and 3 dollars to go to the subway station.

played a little bit of poker when I came home and finished up 2.5 buy-ins for today.

MY EV is going up so I'm very happy about that. I feel like I'm play a lot better now since I've situated myself into cash games and got some SNG strategy out of my head.

Thanks,

Maythany

Glad to see you're enjoying the cash games, definitely different then tourneys that's for sure so it's good that you are picking up the differences.

Sorry to hear about the wrists man, hope they heal quickly. My balance sucks so skateboarding never really worked out for me... maybe if I had tried longer I would have developed better balance... kind of a chicken/egg thing maybe?!?!?

Take Care Bud.

yeah you would have definitely gained better balance if you kept at it.

It's like walking, when we were toddlers, we couldn't walk and when we could, we sucked!

Eventually through continuous repetition we got better at walking :)

Life Update: Heading to my hometown next week to see some old friends and already made plans with some of them. Can't wait to see them :)

Poker Update: I don't know how to explain this, but I just feel like I am playing a lot better then I was a few weeks ago.

I'm 5.12 bb/100 hands over 62k hands and my EV bb/100 is 5.42bbs so I'm running a little under EV. Eventually I want to improve and reach 8+bb/100 hands.

I believe this is possible 4 tabling sh zoom tables.

I was also thinking about the possibility of 8 tabling fast fold poker?

I have an account at fulltilt which I haven't deposited money yet so I'm eligible for the deposit bonus and I can play rush poker alongside zoom poker.

That'd be crazy!

I'm averaging 950 hands/hr and that's not bad, but I think 8 tabling speed poker is possible. However, it's something that won't happen for a awhile.

I think I need to build mental muscle to be able to play that many hands per hour and have a good strategy so most of my decisions are automatic.

I don't know... it'd be nice to play poker while I attend University next year since I won't be working and playing poker can be my substitution for working.

Only time will tell.

Take Care,

Maythany

Two things:
#1 I think it's entirely possible to get more than 8bb/100 at zoom (micros)
#2 They've invented buses now Maythany for goodness sake! No sprained wrists, no getting wet and dodging old guys and baby prams on the path and oh so much more of an easier way to travel!

Pssst: can you tell I'm an old guy yet?!

I wish you fun with the transition to cash, you are obviously capable;

Mal.

What would you do in this situation? I know it's cash game, but still _rolleyes: _rolleyes:

Only 15 hands on opponent and considering this is zoom, I can't really draw any conclusions.

The turn is really tricky for me IMO. I decided to fold because if I called and miss my draw then I'm going to be faced with an all-in most likely.

at the time I thought it's either x/c and call river or x/f. I don't know if he'd do that with 99 :diamond: or TT :diamond: or a lone A :diamond:

thoyughts?

I wanted to give you my thoughts without going on a massive 6 max Zoom tangent on Rambles thread.

Preflop: Buttons 3bet v CO possibly higher than any other position v position.. so he's relatively wide here.

Flop: On this board, to me X/C isn't an option.. with JJ you really want to end this here if possible. If this is not possible you want to pot control your way to river and try to get some nice value from pocket 9s and 10s. There aren't many turn cards you want to see, so X/C seems like it would put you in lots of tough situations.

I'd either check/raise or donk bet. Check/raise may let you take down the pot or get to the river most effectively as he may check behind the turn fearing another check raise. Donk avoids inflating the pot but you're committing to firing at least 2 barrels.

Hopefully my writing isn't too muddled as I just woke up. I tried to re-add you on skype again, I dunno if you still use that account or not.

As played I agree if you x/c turn you must call river but there are so many shitty rivers even if we're not already behind. I would also donk bet turn though tbh.

Without many stats I'd assume villain is not a reg. I don't think it changes much though except I don't think many regs would 5bet light when you 4bet. This is zoom though and so much of your profit comes from non showdown.

I could argue a four bet pre flop for value versus a button 3bet. If he flats I'm happy to get it in on this flop. If he 5bets or shoves I probably fold. Over to you Paul

At NL2/NL5 virtually no one is 4betting light. I think his button 3betting range is mostly made out of value with some bluffy suited connector stuff. 4betting him seems a bit dangerous as we've got a good hand but we'll have to fold to a 5bet (and we'd guess this will happen more often than he'll fold).
With a hand with the nice value and the potential to stack him when we hit a set as he could have TT/JJ+.. I prefer flatting. With a hand like AKo i'd 4 bet shove because there's less chance of stacking him postflop as only hands he'll bite 3 streets of aggression are AQ and maybe AJ.

At NL2 I've experienced lots of regs 3bet/folding from the button. They know other regs are stealing wide but 4 betting pretty tight. I exploit this selectively of course!

Well I haven't updated for a while, but for good reasons though.

Been working A LOT so I could save and have enough to go back for second quad of school.

Right now I'm back in school and my math teacher plays poker!!!!!

He said to the class he plays the game from a mathematical prospective so it's reassuring that he at least knows what he's talking about and isn't deluded by how poker is portrayed through the media.

What other life stuff.... well it's kind of irrelevant, but I'll put it out there anyways. There's someone in my class and we had two classes the previous quad together, but I had to leave for personal reasons.

I saw her on Friday because she's in one of my classes, and I don't know... I thought there was something there between us, but today I realize that it was just me being delusional so it's good to come to this moment of clarity early on so I don't get so invested and bring my hope up or what-not.

Anyways, back to poker related stuff.

I'm going to try my hardest to get to NL5 by late December.

Haven't been playing for a week or so, but have been watching nl videos.

schedule: 1/2 hr playing everyday and 1hr at least watching videos and posting hands

If I stick to this schedule, I'll keep adding 1/2hr every week until I can play for 3-4 hrs a day.

Take Care!

Maythany

All those hands seem fine to me.
JJ you could possibly play differently, but if the guy is betting pot.. chances are he's betting the turn hard too.. and you're not exactly wild to see any turn card either.
Seems like a really disciplined fold that will piss you off at NL2 but save you stacks further down the line.

I was pissed! lol, only for a couple of seconds though and then I got over it.

The best way to win at 2nl is play in position, bet your big hands hard, don't bluff that much, stick to your range chart per position, know when to fold your big hands and most importantly, don't be taken to value town!

Played 1k hands today. Will most likely play another 2k for a total of 3k hands this Saturday.

My first 1k hands I played pretty good IMO, but there were two spots with AK where I feel like I could have gotten away from it. I noticed one thing: People don't 4bet without the top of their range in 2nl. I'll be up against a of QQ+ and AK and AK is not really that great against that range. So I think folding to 4bets at 2nl is going to be fine?

Vs an unknown 4bet shove, it's really standard to call KK/AA only. This has some advantages though, it means 4bet bluffs can be wildly profitable.. especially against regs. I know lots of people say 'don't get into 3bet bluffing at micros..certainly not 4bet bluffing" but those people are just following outdated info, not thinking for themselves or are trying to teach very new players not to spew (which is valid). People are flatting or folding v 3bets the vast majority of the time so it can be exploited nicely.

Yeah I did watch some videos myself where the coach said you don't have to bluff in order to win at the lowest stakes which I think is pretty valid IMO for beginners, but I personally can't play like that. It's funny that you brought up 4bet bluffing because I did one during one of my sessions and it failed horribly lol!

At 2nl for now I'm going to keep my 4bet range strictly for value because the player field here is just too huge to 4bet bluff profitably.

Against an unknown 4bet it's standard to only stack off with AA/kk? really? Maybe it's just me, but against a non-all in 4bet, I find it so hard to fold TT-QQ so I end up calling and spewing money because I'm forced to fold on the turn against extreme action from the villain.

So poker wise, I played a little over 3k hands today which is the most I've put in for a while so I'm definitely happy about that.

Some hands I wanna go over with you so I'll post it on skype for you or on your blog.

Well I think you kind of proved the rule a bit haha. You can always set mine with pocket pairs in the rare case the effective stack is 15x the amount to call, this does happen sometimes if 3bets/4bets are small.

played 1k/4k hands today. I may play 4k hands, but I'll most likely put in 3k hands today.

I gotta study for a english test tomorrow, and two math tests on Tuesday so it's going to be a busy day today :(
