Thanks - this is the most organized I have ever been about setting goals and it feels really great!
I'm not a SnG player, but isn't that a bad call preflop (SB + OOP)? Especially against 3x open?
Probably a shove would be better, you can instantly win almost 20% of your stack.
Flop is no brainer - shove, since there's already 2250 in the pot, you might not get any calls from worse hands, at least you protect your hand and win this big pot instantly (also shove sometimes looks weaker). If it's a spewy opponent, you can risk a bit by just calling the flop and letting him bluff again (but he has position on you, so you might give him two free cards).
That is one big difference of cash vs SnG. I'm 2nd in chips on the bubble with a reasonably deep stack for this stage... I can only shove pre-flop here with something like JJ+. I do hate the 3x bet, but think I am deep enough to play post-flop if I hit the flop. When I hit top pair my plan is to check-shove into the CBet I expect him to make, which is what I did.
I just don't know how to look at this hand and properly weigh the equity of a hand post-flop versus the ICM tax... It's easy pre-flop (I've just trained myself from using ICMizer so much...)

Hey!
Maybe this site can help you in some way.
You can study 9man ICM side also with software called ICMExplorer. Its free for 9man price structure.

Thanks Bogdan!
I checked that site out a while back and, to me and at that time anyways, it looked like they stole almost all their content directly from Jared Tendler's - The Mental Game of Poker and represented it as their own (or at least did not give credit to him.) As far as I know, he is not associated with the site. Anyways, stuff like that bothers me so I decided not to use it.
I own and have read his book though and some of his suggestions have made it into my warm-up routine!

Thanks Ghaleon! I will definitely check it out - I appreciate the recommendation.
100-Game Update
I'm slowly digging myself out of the whole, and only 10-buy-ins down for the year so far (13-buy-ins below $EV). I have been bubbling a lot lately (22% of finishes). My review shows that my shoving ranges are strong and appropriate for my opponents but that I am running into monsters or getting sucked out on. My calling ranges have been just on the edge for the most part - with a few that were far too loose.
The last session review I did, I was surprised to find more poorly-played hands than usual. Even some bad river bets where worse wouldn't call and better wouldn't fold - a mistake I haven't made in quite awhile. I think I have corrected these errors for now.
Games Played: 106
ROI: -9.90%
ITM Finishes: 35.8% - (9/16/13)
PokerStars RakeBack Rolled Back!!!
I'm very happy that PokerStars decided to roll-back the rake increases.
A Very Deep Run with UnExploitable Strategy
Played an MTT with 23,982 players today and made it really, really deep - I busted out 47th!
What was my strategy that got me so deep? I went all-in EVERY Single Hand!
Funny thing was my opponents were playing the exact same strategy... oh wait...
It was an All-in Shoot Out from the January Challenge on Stars...
$9 Win
Keep up the the good vibes Ramble. It's seems you keep order in what you do and have a really good aproach to whatever you pick up involving into.
The calculations you make are interesting for preflop-postflop play in addition with ICMtax. I'm just wondering if there are any postflop calculations which can refer to ICMtax...

Thanks stameninho - I appreciate the nice comments.
Ghaleon recommended ICMExplorer, which I have so far only had the briefest look at. Although I don't think it is specifically designed for post-flop analysis I have run across a couple of threads on here where the creator, pzhon, uses it to do just that. I need to look at those threads some more to see if I can make sense of them.

Trololol, loved the post!
The past few days have been really messed up... I worked 8 hours, home for 8 hours, worked 8 hours, home for 5 hours, worked 5 hours, home for 7 hours, worked for 7 hours... now it's the weekend baby!!! (and I need it
)
This has really interfered with my goals for the past few days, but I think I can get back on track pretty quickly.
Poker-wise I just had a short session and managed an ROI of 102% (only 12 games, but 5 wins) to bring me out of the hole. First time in the green so far in 2015!
Just got a 50-game session in with a small positive ROI.
I think my work schedule of past few days is getting to me as I really don't feel very well today - I just want to be a hermit and hide away all day.
I was studying one of my opponents away from the tables last night and learned that he plays significantly different against me then the general population. It is definitely something I am going to exploit going forward. I think many other good regs may be doing the same thing so I will be looking to see if they have made the same adjustment against me.... Let the leveling wars begin!!!
I might get a few more games in tonight or I might get more study in - I've hit both targets for those goals already this week... but right now I think I am going to go make a tea and chill for a bit.
Week 2 Goals Report
I track my goals daily only a tracking sheet I have printed out on my desk – I will update my blog every Sunday with a report for the week.
For every goal I allow myself one miss per week.
Sleep - 7 hours / night: 2/7 - This was a horrible week sleep-wise. Kid was up throughout the night a few nights and then I worked some crazy quick-changes at work.
Exercise - 5 days / week: 4/5
Breakfast - 7 days / week: 6/7
Work - 15 minutes early: 5/5
Friends - 1 get-together / week: 3/1 - Got together for late Christmas Party, Kid's Birthday Party and Supper with Co-Workers
Family - focused quality time: 6/7 - Was pretty sick yesterday and didn't spend much time with family.
Volume - 100 games / week: 106/100
Study - 3 hours / week: 3/3 - Reviewed hands, analyzed one specific opponent (more to do), looked at available videos and came up with plan to review a few topics/series.
Stakes - Get to $15 and win: 0/0 long-term goal.
Games - Find 2nd format: 0/0 medium-term goal.
Blog - Updates, Report & Feature: 2/3 Started work on Feature, but not ready yet...
Forums - Be Positive, Active, & Supportive: 3/3

Try $5 Spin & Go, that thing is 90% fishes. For you, as SnG player, should be even easier.

I dunno - The variance and rake make it too much of a gamble with my limited volume I think. If I could get tons of volume in, it might be worth taking a shot at it, but for now, it would just be a distraction.
200-Game Update / The Mental Game of Poker 2
Had a small session today and was very disappointed with my level of play - way too much gamble. I have been noticing that my mental game is usually not too affected by things at the table - it is usually frustrations from real-life that get carried into my play-style. Luckily I realized what I was doing half-way through my session and managed to play solidly for rest to break-even.
Also made another incredible cash in the all-in shoot-out finishing in the top 10% of a 30,000 strong field for $1. ♠_drink:
Games Played: 199
ROI: 1.74%
ITM Finishes: 38.7% (21/32/24)
I forgot to mention that at our Christmas party this past weekend with family from out-of-town, I got The Mental Game of Poker 2!!! Pretty excited as I was not expecting it at all! Hoping it will help me improve aspects of my game the same way the first book did.

Ok so I'm not the best Sit n Go player in the world, obviously. And yes the games are super soft in terms of the players there, — lost the count of how many times I've played against 100 VPIP players — but here is a decent sample size of what I've ran into the $1 Spin games, when I was messing around on these during the holidays for a little bet I did with a couple of friends:

Just my 2 cents here but, you should just keep playing what you like the most, and forget about results for a few days. And if you can't handle variance, never in the world play the Spin n' Go games. Oh boy they can get so sick.
Will follow your blog, and hope to see you in the final HU on the All-In tournaments
I have 364 games in $5 Spin Go, with $520 profit and 28.6% ROI. And I'm not even a SnG player.
Maybe it's just an upswing, but I like to believe that's because of 90% fishes.
