OK so here we are update time!My challenge lasted just shy of a day which is a little dissapointing. There is good reason for this and that was poor bankroll management. Then again in a trebke quickly challenge there was always going to be some risk. I decided I wanted to play in the MTT leaderboard this month which meant 8 euro buy in to an MTT with 30 euro roll. This wouldn't be so bad but the buying added pressure relative to my bankroll and caused me to play bad elsewhere when I ended up busting the MTT.
This is sad because I have much time on my hands right now and am unable to play. Unibet at 4nl cash, plo and 1 and 4 euro sngs is easily within my grasp of beating if I just played those buyins consistently with a reasonable bankroll. This is the frustrating thing

This included a really nice poker strategy emblazoned hardback notebook which I am going to use as my poker journal when I next start trying to build a bankroll ; a pack of playing cards ; some lemmon flavoured sweets mmmm ! And a red poker strategy stress ball.
I have the stress ball under my chin as I type this on my tesco hudl android
its a great ball and doubles up as a headrest when you are horizontal I noticed
I must confess I'm not used to having a stress ball and have thrown it at a wall once already during an MTT:f_tongue:Did I really just write that much about a stress ball? Haha I need to get out more I guess. Jokes aside the pack was really nice and I'm thankful to all the cool people at poker strategy for sending it all the way to the UK for me
Today was a pretty meh day results wise with my poker but I know you have to take the good with the smooth some days
I decided to concentrate on small MTT's on pokerstars as I had some pretty awesome scores recently in some including: -
2/1549 in 0.27c
4/1440 in 0.82c
17/1753 in 0.55c
79/4393 in 0.82
All in space of a couple of weeks and I'd only played about 20 MTTs in total, with my new and upgraded turbo charged game (built partly with Asaban's course and partly with a lot of extra study). well.. the confidence gets a nice boost but then I have a day like today where I play ten and don't cash one (last week i played 10 all week and was ITM in 7 of them!).
Here are results today
I made two bad plays today. One was shoving 22 with 20bbs. 
there were 4 limpers and i was like well over 20% of my stack is out there... but middle phase of an mtt you really don't need to be getting 20 bigs in with 22, however alluring the dead money is. Chalked that one up to experience, don't think I'd flinch at making the same play from MP or later though with 10bbs.
Other bad play was UTG shove from 70/6 and late position flat from guy that has double that stack size. The UTG shove was 70BBs and the flat was from stack that has me covered for 110bbs. I called it with AK. I still think it's never in terrible shape but from posting on twoplustwo - consensus seem to be I should have waited for a better spot.
I also watched episode 2 of sharkcage today.
Phil Gruissem is a good player I have never heard of, but i'll be checking him out a bit more now I know who is. Saw him on sharkscage episode 2 today.
It's a pretty cool show... in fact it's midnight and I think I'll go and watch the third episode before I go to bed. :f_thumbsup::happy:

Brag / Celebration
On Betsafe today and I had $1.60 in my account. I had been waiting for a Wednesday because Wednesday is the first depositor freeroll and also the 500 GTD first depositor MTT. I played for 4.5 hours. At the break I went to the back door and gulped in fresh air to energise my brain with fresh oxygen. Yes this is how much I was trying to be a pro here.

As I was late in both of the MTTs. Eventually with a combination of savvy preflop opens, effective use of my stack at 10-15bbs, and decent resteals in the right spots we were at the money bubble. Then the money bubble burst. Final table I let the short stacks go at it, and I put pressure on the middle stacks. Then it was headsup. I took it down! 1/87 for €130 .... and while that was happening, I was also final tabling the freeroll!
I went on to finish 2nd in the freeroll for 60 euros.
So that's
2/680 in the First Deposit Freeroll , and
1/87 in the 1 euro (500 GTD) New player MTT.
After weeks of studying and playing MTT's it's really nice to pull these results out.
I feel great, a nice thing to be updating into my blog.

So here's a funny thing. I've been playing some 10nl a little scared because I started with 8 buyins and because I'm realllly keen to do well. Tonight I catch the high roller post on news page and watch the plo 100k zigmund and ivey heads up coinflips. Suddenly I don't feel as intimidated by 10nl.
This is no joke. The game fear factor went down by comparing it to the nosebleed madness in the video. I played what I thought felt right, including getting my aces paid heads up because I deviated from my standard betting line and ended up 2.5 buyins by end of the session.
Feeling good. But don't want to let it go to my head. Just funny how one simple video clip can impact your behaviour like that.
Was doing very well, but have just had to pay a 120 bill that came out of nowhere. So now have zero bankroll again! 
On the plus side it feels good to be paying real life expenses with poker profit. On the downside it doesn't feel good to have no bankroll!

Small tip: bankroll mgmt is the most important thing in poker. If you have problem with that, you can easily write an email to support on pokerstars to block higher stakes. To unblock it again you need to wait 24 hours, which prevented me from doing a lot of stupid highstakes shots 
Whatever you chose, 45m or cash, start from the lowest stakes and climb higher and higher, to the top!

Good idea about bankroll management too. I don't have half as much bankroll mngmt problems as I used too. Now I can stick to decent bankroll mngmt for the most part, but occasionally get a bit impatient.
A big change for me was to stop trying to make money and instead focus on learning and improving my play its a big shift in perspective and one that makes me a much better player for it I think. Although I still have a tonne to learn.
Its funny you should write this today as just earlier this evening I was thinking about how important mental approach is to discipline at the table. I used to play very ego and competition based and this lead to tilt, now I am practicing improving the overall quality of my thinking when I play and find this helps a tonne too
Hey guys, just recently had a go at some 2nl on Pokerstars, and made some nice headway. It sure does help having a friend on skype also when you are going through a tough patch. I was like no not again set over set... and he could tell my mood was bad, especially when i said " yeah i'll stop in a minute, just want to get 2 buyins back". Don't get in that mindset he said, take a break! Well this is good advice, and of course makes sense.
Anyway here are my results. I'll update again in a week or so. Have a nice week!
