Villian 28/11 3bet 5 - 137 hands

Plan was to check flop, call turn and raise/shove river after he bets hopefully. When he does such a massive overbet on the river is it best to call or fold and start again with my 38BB stack? The river bet was quite out of character, early on in HU I 2X and he shoved 60BB but that was the only time. I narrowed his range to straights KJ & J8, sets 99, TT & AA or Ax hands, so I'm crushing that range, but its just afterwards I realised I'd called off 38BB to a really funky bet

Flop: (5,250) 9 Q T (2 players)

River: (13,124) 5 (2 players)

There's no way I'm ever folding here. Especially if he has 3-bet shoved 60bb earlier.

Against a passive player like him I think you attract more value with betting than checking on the flop. Also it’s good to know what his HU stats are, because this must be his overall stats.

As played I would also newer fold this hand on river, because there is only 1 logic hand you lose against and that’s the straight. It’s still possible he shoved with a lower set or 2 pair as well.

TBH I was pretty sure I could never fold, even though I just had this horrible feeling he's gonna have the nut straight

There had been 19 hands HU, he only raised once with JJ and then played it cautiously after flop was AK4, often folded BB to a 2X & also folded 4 SB's & apart from 2 hands folded to my post flop aggression

So he looks pretty tight HU. Than I would play the hand still the same way to bet on every street for value.

He has folded to 2x open raises? So why you decide to 2,5x this one?

Because it was the first hand back after break and I almost ran out of time so I just quickly pressed the hot key for raise, which happened to be 2.5X

I checked the flop because he had been so quiet post flop I didnt want to bet him out the pot so soon, I was hoping he would hit something on the turn so I could get paid

You want to protect you’re hand as well. There are a lot of ugly turn cards for you.
Any :spade:, J and T can hurt the action and you’re hand.
