$0.10/$0.20 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players

Hero (SB): $25.34 (126.7 bb)
BB: $7.10 (35.5 bb)
UTG: $29.94 (149.7 bb)
MP: $20.64 (103.2 bb)
CO: $20.22 (101.1 bb)
BTN: $6.30 (31.5 bb)

Preflop: Hero is SB with J J
UTG folds, MP raises to $0.60, 2 folds, Hero calls $0.50, BB calls $0.40

Flop: ($1.80) T 7 2 (3 players)
Hero checks, BB checks, MP bets $1.26, Hero calls $1.26, BB folds

Turn: ($4.32) 6 (2 players)
Hero checks, MP bets $3.02, Hero calls $3.02

River: ($10.36) 9 (2 players)
Hero checks, MP bets $15.76 and is all-in, Hero calls $15.76

Villain opens 24 from MP (6k hands). Mostly calling 3bets IP. Have a note on him he is 2 barreling with FD. BB was aggro fish and I tought abt. going AI if he pushes.
I think with this overbet on the river he tries to represent only 8x which I doubt he would bet so aggressively on flop and turn IP. And the rest in his range is air. With possible straight I doubt he would overbet sets. And KK+ are probably checking behind on the low coordinated board.
What do you think is correct play vs. normal bet - 1/2 or 2/3 pot bet on the river? If the fish was not in the hand are we check / raising the flop?

Not the answer on your question, but why are you not donking flop?

I won't accomplish much with donking. If the fish call it would give goods odds to the reg to stay in the hand. If the reg raises I would have to fold, sometimes the best hand.

I think the river will be an exploititive fold because we can't beat jack shit anymore.
What are we hoping for? AT?

Plus there is 4-to-a-straight on the board on the river. We have to fold to the overbet.

I agree with VaskataBuci. I don't see any made hand which is overbetting the river. I would rather call vs overbet in this situation than vs normal sized bet. Anyway, he probably had A8.

You have a good bluff catcher, nice call. I do think the bet is polarizing and it is good to know that villain can bluff here.

If villain opens 24% pre and is not folding to 3bets its a very very clear 3bet preflop.

Agree with this. Expected BB to squeeze tbh.

If villian opens pre it's a 3bet pre

Raise pre, reraise flop, reraise turn.

The board is the best possible when you have JJ. Why are you slowplaying. I dont understand this play at all.
Then you call a huge bet at the river when 8 got there. Which a fish very likely can have.
He could got two pairs, he is a fish and you dont even raise pre so why shouldnt he limp in with T9. 76, 78 or something like that.

Is villain a good reg? You have 6k hands on him so I guess he's not exactly a fish.

Agree with your analysis of the hand though, good call.

Hi MJPerry,

Actually his winrate is 21bb / 100hands. Maybe on a heater:f_biggrin: He just plays strange, not totally fishy. I'm on + vs. him.

Haha I was actually asking because I had a sneaking suspicion that this hand was versus me but I checked my HM2 and it wasn't. Overbetting a super-thin range with some stupid bluff is exactly the kind of thing that I'd do!
