That is exactly the case, I think.

You're advocating fundamentally imbalanced play. you may 4bet and LAG may fold if the poker gods are kind.

But LAG will adjust. Or he won't and you won't know. And by then none of your work will even matter because you'll have to figure it out again the next time based on whether or not he adjusted to your call/4bet, whether he hasn't at all and 3bets you next time with just 75s, and all the while you're making exploitable moves yourself. LAG will pay for his crimes one way or the other if he's playing so badly. You on the other hand should keep your life simple and solid with solid play such as I have suggested.

This is what I think.

I am advocating exploiting an imbalanced player with an imbalanced play

stop levelling yourself - everybody isn't adjusting or counter adjusting like you think or they wouldn't be playing this limit

do the math on it, even if he squeezes a little more than he should he will fold too much to this - we don't have to over adjust and i think JJ-QQ,AK should be fine to play like that vs this guy

It's about being solid.

Guys, what balanced/inbalanced are you talking about. It is NL5, we have to play solid and do not warry about balance/exploitativity/etc...

JJ+, AK. That's it.

Yes sorry, that's what I meant! :f_biggrin:
What would be the best approach to an unkown range here then?

The best approach is to tighten your calling range in the first place so that this LAG doesn't have fold equity preflop with a tiny squeeze. You shouldn't be calling and then 4betting at all. If you want to prevent your opponent from making money by squeezing then don't call with any two cards that looks good vs one raise in early position. Just call with 77+ to TT or JJ, AQ and maybe KJs QJs and 3bet the rest. Obviously call or fold once squeezed on.

If you start calling so wide as you need to protect yourself by call/4beting then you're going to be exploitable unless you include some AA or KK in your calling range, otherwise you turn your hand face up into JJ and or AK and your opponent will get to invest only 8 big blinds for the opportunity to stack you everytime he has QQ+ and AK and you have AK or JJ. Think about that. And calling AA or KK to trap means your 3betting range cannot possibly hold itself together, along with the fact that you lose value.

Don't make things complicated for yourself. Focus on the price that you're getting and the fact that you have a strong enough range to continue with already. Remember, your opponent's theoretical squeezing range here - vs two players and facing the possibility that he could run into the SB or BB - should be very strong, so the best approach is to just remain solid and call/call with the suggested narrow range.

And don't get me wrong. I'm not saying be a nit, I'm saying you're in early position and many people are putting lots of money into the pot!

Sorry I haven't organized my thoughts better in this post it's all a bit jumbled up together. But these are my opinions about the matter.

I had to read this a few times to understand :f_biggrin:. This sounds like a solid strategy vs this player type in this spot, I didn't think about folding/3betting other hands so I don't get squeezed by the loose aggressive player, I also generally think most of these player types do it at random with no reason what so ever, but just for the sake of it. I just need to focus more in these spots not to make a stupid check shove mistake.

One last thing id like to ask, you mentioned earlier that he bets 3/4 into 2 players witch looks very strong, I also agree with this, do you think folding is a better play and waiting for a different spot where his bet sizing isn't so big, since its indicating an over pair, set or 2 pair+?

Thanks for the advice!

Peace :f_drink:

I think this is also good advice im trying to think too much into what a player is thinking when its probably, "I have 8Ts, im on the BTN, Im 3betting"

will be JJ-QQ,AK not JJ+ because we would already have 3bet KK/AA so wouldn't be facing the SQ

We still talking about LAG - some more stat would be useful (sorry if I missed it). Also dynamic after squeeze can be different than after regular 3bet - some people 3bet a lot but squeeze only a little.

I think the first thing we should do if this is a regular table, is to sit out. Why to play on the table with LAG behind us?

If we have active squeezers some players like to just call and push after the squeeze with KK+.

Certainly it can be nice strategy to just call with KK+ too with loose squeezer behind. It can be more profitable and we also balance our range against better opponent

Yes, it is well for the balance too. And most villains will exclude KK+ from our call/raising range...as did mattyvx... :)

Pre's whatever
I prefer lower variance route and call. If his squeeze >12% ship's preferred actually

otf I defo flat, let him bluff the turn it's not like we're folding out the tag's better hand or anything
