Hey folks,

bet flop for value.
Bet turn for value and i dont want to see any further spade.
Get faced with a river donk bet.

For me it really looks like he dont want to miss out any value.
Would you fold or call?

I dont know what to do in this situation.

I prefer folding. There is flush and paired board. You've shown strength on previous streets,so his donk is for value mostly.
On NL5 xc,xc, donk is strong.

Tyrion88, the fold here is a smart move.
The board is full of possibilities, and we dont have info on villain either.

Ugh...Sucks, but I say fold here. Flush and paired board. You've showed strength the whole way, while he checked and called. Now he bets the river. Feels really strong here.

Question for you my good man - I notice you often advocate caution on paired boards. However, that reduces our opponent's number of value combos. I don't think you should worry about them as much as you do.

In this instance especially I think the paired board is kind of irrelevant - he's unlikely to have gotten to the river with any 9x (save As9x which he should fold pre) and sets/T9 should have raised at some point.

MJ, there is not only pair on board. The flush is there too. There are hands that beat us. If it was only the paired board I would not be so worried. I am not certain about his range, so I prefer to be cautious. It may not be the most +EV ...
What weaker hands do you expect him to bet like that?

This should be yeah a fold because on the river the board is so connected. Considering the no information, in these spots you should always(!!!) check if you opponent is hidden himself from search. IMO one tabler is 90% times a fish,9% he has some clue what he does.

I know, that's not relevant to my question. I'm not talking about this hand, just wondering why you see paired boards as so harmful.

Hmm I think I see them harmful on boards like here- where apart from the pair, there is flush or straight possible.
If just simple paired board- not so harmful. I should take a look at this.

I'm calling here only because it is a half pot donk. If he donk shoved, I would fold. I'm not thrilled to have this situation because he will show up with 9x sometimes but you have good odds so that shouldn't be a problem. I think there are enough Tx/JJ-KK that unknown can play like this. MrRandom000 gave really good advice and I agree completely - if they show up 1-tabling - fish, if hidden it's more likely this is a reg.

Ok. Thanks for all that input. I have another question:

Would you have bet the river if he had checked?

Yeah, just shove for value. It is hard to slowplay on this board so I'm confident in the strenght of our hand. Your line will look strong but we hope the unknown turns out to be a fish.

What hands are you hoping to get value from? QQ/JJ that for some reason ignore the three-flush?

I would probably be checking back unless I had a read that villain had a propensity to hero call rivers.

Yeah, JJ/QQ, KK even. Some Tx and maybe PPs if he turns out to be a fish.

I will disagree here. All hands you hope will take this line are playing different ftom flop. Villain also sees the flush paired board and there is not much logic in donking with these hands.

If you target these, you should bet 1/2 . Board is not so good for them to make big calls.

Villains line is for value. He has either flush or TT so folding is good here.

Hero has 3.17$ left and 1/2 is 2.7, I see no reason to leave him 10 bbs. If you are worried that all-in would look too strong, then we can make it 3$, I can agree with that. If you want to bet small to look weaker, we have to consider something like 2$ but I still don't like it too much. If he can hand read, he will know what's going on and if he can't, then we just miss value (fish calling ranges aren't very elastic, especially when we're talking about TP+).

After the donk, as I said, I want to call only because it's 1/2. In general for turn and river donks the default assumption you can use is that anything over half pot is strong, anything under half pot is weak and 1/2 is usually weak but can be strong if something hits the card that came on that street. Here if river was 3d, I honestly shove over for value, that's how confident I am with my hand. On this river I'm not that happy so I'd just call.

Still I understand that this is a 3bet pot, CO vs UTG, so I could be too optimistic. If you think that he has it too often, I don't hate folding this hand. What I would really be against is if we folded AsAx/KsKx - we definitely don't want to fold our whole range against unknown who takes a line that is not that strong.

The connected cards dont scare me at all. Way few combos that do a straight (just 87s), and this hand is not that likely a call pre, or even an UTG OR.
