Hi just wondered if this is the right way to play this hand. I have no stats/reads on villain. If you do not agree with how I play please tell me what I could do different and why.

The hand:

4player table
Hero (CO): 6:s 6:d

Hero bets, BU 3-bets, SB calls, BB calls, Hero calls

Flop: 6:h K:c K:s
SB checks, BB checks, Hero checks, BU bets, SB folds, BB folds, Hero raises, BU 3-bets, Hero capps, BU calls

Turn: 8:c
Hero bets, BU raises, Hero 3-bets, BU capps, Hero calls

River: 7:d
Hero bets, BU raises, Hero 3-bets, BU capps, Hero calls

My thoughts during the hand were that the BU had a Kx hand which he overplayed (maybe AK because of 3b PF). I was abit scared by KK,K6,K8,K7 however how often does he have those hands here?
What do you think? did I play correct?

Its possible to put in more action preflop if you want, as you will have enough share of equity. Its a higher variance play of course.

Betting the flop is worth considering but as BU does it for you which is even better.

If you don't have a read then you can go with population tendencies. I used to play 2/4 through 10/20 limit and without a read I'd play more or less the same on turn and river as you did here at 2/4, but I would just call his raise on the river. At 10/20 I would already be getting worried by his turn raise ( I can never fold anywhere in the hand of course). This is going back five years so play has doubtless improved.

Assuming he is thinking a bit - On the flop I suggest when he bets he will have a 6 (discounted), K, pocket pair or rarely air if he thinks he can get the whole table to fold. The hands you mention, K8 K7, K6 would seem somewhat loose three bets preflop. Its possible if they are suited (k7 diamonds, K6 clubs are not possible, overall its not many combos).

When he raises the turn we can more or less rule out 77, but he can have 88, and possibly some K8s. He can have AA or KK and I would suggest AK, KQ, KJ maybe KTs. QQ I think will shut down, at least it won't cap the turn.

When he raises the river I'd say he is spewing quite bad if he is behind. So your 3 bet is entirely exploitative in the belief that he is over-valuing his hand. As I said, you can go with population tendencies - does the average player at your site and stakes spazz off with KKK like this?

Thanks for the advice, I have no real idea about population tendensies, just started with SH. But i get your point on the river.

Capping preflop would be just senseless.

You need to put on the breaks sooner or later. The "evidence" you got preflop that he holds Kx where x has missed is pretty much invalidated by the action. He'd pretty much need to hate money if the river 3-bet is good.

Senseless is a strong word, Yohan. How much equity do you think our hand would have to have in order to justify a cap in a four handed pot?

25%. It doesn't have it.

These hands do surprisingly well. It's a good one to play around with in an equity calculator ;)

I am a bit in doubt on when to push the breaks, I guess I would have started downcalling after his cap on turn so simply a c/c on river.

Ok he can have a Kx hand that you beat but there are more options that beat you.

I probably should have slowed down on the River.

PC, what do you think he has that beats me vs Kx that I beat?

You might be ok but he keeps showing agression that's a good reason for me to not raise river. KK is a possibility so why take the risk by 3-betting river?

It doesn't matter what he holds. He says over and over again that his hand is better than ours. It is a total waste of time to guess what he has. Just call at some point (earlier than as played) to find out.
