Pre Flop: (pot: 735) Hero has J♠ J♣

fold, fold, fold, fold, fold, CO raises to 669, BTN calls 669, fold, Hero raises to 2,240, fold, BTN calls 1,571

Flop: (5,604, 2 players) 9♣ 2♥ 4♦
Hero bets 2,240, BTN calls 2,240

Turn: (10,084, 2 players) A♣
Hero checks, BTN bets 1,400, Hero calls 1,400

River: (12,884, 2 players) Q♥
Hero checks, BTN bets 4,200, Hero ???

1M GTD WCOOP Warm-Up.

Shall I fold turn or river here? Kind of a strange flop call, because with tens, eights he would have shoved here. I had a gut feeling that he either has a set or floats with AQ.

The BTN player is pretty passive. I would go for a bigger bet on the flop like 2.750 and shove most turns for value again him. I wouldn’t be surprised if he called with pretty much the same range as now.

As played the turn is a bad card for us and I can’t fold on that tiny bet and would most likely fold the river, because I don’t think he is capable to float hands and change them in to a bluff on turn or river.

Cheers,

I don't know how many idiots are in those 215's as it is highly above my buy-in range so my opinion might not matter but I think he has the nuts here :) I really wouldn't be surprised if he showed up with a set. He calls the superdry flop, he bets the turn tiny and because you call, he thinks you will call a bigger bet on the river too because you have an ace (as 3better preflop) so a set is the only thing that really makes alot of sense.

It is kind of weird that he makes these low-amount raises.
Nevertheless shouldn't this be an easy call on the river with pot odds of 3:1 and the fact that hero already got over 45 % of his stack in?

The problem is that we most likely beat nothing he bets on the river with, but his sizing is indeed weird.

Yeah and the fact that we have half our stack in doesn't matter I think. Tournaments are all about survival. For the rest what SDK says. Although you're getting great odds, you're just not beating him enough to reach those odds so you can still fold :)

Would you fold here too if it would be a 1$-buy-in MTT?

Was it a mistake to squeeze just 2240? Wouldn't it be better to squeeze to 3500 and then shove pretty much any flop?

Yes, you can play somewhat different in microstakes mtt's but when you're not beating anything, you're not beating anything :)

I think you could've made it slightly bigger like 2.8 or 2.9 because you're OOP but I wouldn't make it 3500, you're still playing 39bb effective which is a huge stack.

Why should he shove with eights and tens on the flop?
