Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has K♥ K♠

UTG raises to 3 BB, Hero raises to 8 BB, fold, BTN calls 2.8 BB and is all-in, fold, BB calls 7 BB, UTG calls 5 BB

Pre flop 3 bet should be bigger - 3,5x (or at least 3x). OTF I think we can bet bigger (65%?) as it´s MW. OTT I feel comfortable with checking. Villain called our bet OTF in 3 way, which says he is strong itself and then he gives us free street by checking OTT, so I would take this advantage and just check it. Then probably call the river.

Why should the pre 3bet be bigger? We are in position and it is ok to make it 1bb smaller than 3x, and 1bb bigger if oop.
OTF the board is not the best for us. When we bet on monotone board multiway we should have huge fold equity. We don't need to bet very big.
Because this shortstack villain didn't raise OTF, I sense weakness. I think it is totally fine to bet OTT and make him AI if he calls. That way we can combine our equity and our fold equity. Checking behind and calling blank rivers vs his shove would be not as good in my opinion.

Ahh I didn´t consider villain was short stack, sorry. Anyway I see your point, but I disagree with what you say about pre flop. We have the 2nd nuts, so we want to put in as much money as possible, right? So, why not bet more when we absolutely can?

Well, the reason why we shouldn't 3bet bigger is of course balancing. If we 3bet bigger with KK+ and smaller with bluffs it is very easy to get exploited. When I see extraordinarily large 3bets I take a note and see if it is a standard for that guy. But of course this is zoom and hero has very small sample size on villains at this table so maybe we don't have to care about that.

3betting 2.67x has to have less fold equity than 3x, especially against regs considering regs mostly have elastic ranges and since 2.67x actually allows OR to just call for set mining purposes. Have you experienced getting less folds to your 3bets by just making it 2.67x?

I don't think smaller 3bets have that big difference in FE. 3bet is a 3bet and for villain it still looks strong. I think even most regs at NL10 do not adapt to different sizings very well.
I haven't personally tested this. I usually open 3x IP and 1bb more from OOP but it would be normal thing to do to 3bet smaller when in position. I guess it is the same thing than minraising from SB and BTN, guys will fold too much even if it would be correct for BB to flat with anything.

When there are recreational players or someone who doesn't fold to 3bets it is ok to 3bet bigger. But using a bigger sizing when you have KK+, that is exploitable.

Yeah, of course balancing might definitely be a good reason, but this is NL10 and I don´t think we have to be very balanced.

Totally agree - there is no need to balance your game this limit.
Regarding preflop - I would increase my 3b sizing, especially bcs of SB guys who 41/25 - he mostly has fishy vpip/pfr.

I would throw my hand away on the flop vs 3 people.
