Poker Stars, $0.01/$0.02 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.

SB: $0.95 (47.5 bb)
Hero (BB): $3.38 (169 bb)
UTG: $2 (100 bb)
MP: $2.29 (114.5 bb)
CO: $2.92 (146 bb)
BTN: $1.92 (96 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BB with Q♠: Q♥:
4 folds, SB raises to $0.04, Hero raises to $0.12, SB calls $0.08

Flop: ($0.24) 8♥: 7♥: A♦: (2 players)
SB checks, Hero checks

Turn: ($0.24) A♥: (2 players)
SB bets $0.12, Hero calls $0.12

Thought 2nd ace meant less likely for him to have an ace and didn't think he had the flush, also I now had the flush draw.

River: ($0.48) 5♠: (2 players)
SB bets $0.71 and is all-in,

Thought he might have another pair or over cards

Spoiler

Hero calls $0.71

Results: $1.90 pot ($0.07 rake)
Final Board: 8♥: 7♥: A♦: A♥: 5♠:
SB showed 6♥: 4♣: and won $1.83 ($0.88 net)
Really never put him on that calling the 3bet preflop
Hero showed Q♠: Q♥: and lost (-$0.95 net)

The river is for me a clear fold. I don’t think a mid-stack player on NL2 will ever bluff and all draws are arrived as well. I would most likely still Cbet the flop for thin value and protection.

Cheers,

I would also cbet OTF.
As played you can call OTT but river is a fold.

You look weakish and villain can bluff here sometimes. Still his bet sizing is big and I don't see villain bluffing here too much. I think you would need at least an ace to bluff catch here.

Another ace on the board indeed means it is less likely he has an ace. However this is NL2 and you are playing against a fish so how wide do you think he could call your 3bet? There are still a lot of Ax combos left in his range. Also, why doesn't he have a flush?
You have to also remember that the board is paired so full houses are possible, and you are not drawing to the nuts. Villain might have Kh in his hand.

IMO that overbet river means either he has nothing (miss draw sometimes) either and hand he didn'nt manage to value.
I would love to Cbet that board though after his check would ease up decision on follow up street.

As played I think, if he's a fish (seems the case here - not cave max) you could call once and take a note, because your line looks really weak postflop.
As general advice it would be a fold.

Thanks for the feedback.

Still struggle to find the fold button sometimes.

HUh, easy fold OTR. What r u doing?
There is a possible flush, there is a posible trips, there is a possible FH and you decided to call.
You are wasting your money, FOLD OTR.

There are many hands that have you beat. You can only beat a bluff at this point and with all the draws out there its a fold OTR. At this stake, when they bet they usually have it.

WHAT WAS THE REASON YOU DID NOT THINK HE HAD A FLUSH? MY THOUGHTS WENT MORE TO "HE MADE THE FLUSH" AFTER CHECKING THE FLOP PLUS HIS BET SIZE CONSIDERING HIS STACK. I'M NEW TO THIS EARNING POINTS SO I WOULD APPRECIATE FEEDBACK IF MY OPINION WAS SATISFACTORY.

I do not cbet flop, esp in 3bet pot. I think we build the pot with 2nd pair unneceserarily. Proably his calling range is very strong here. We create lot of fold equity , I mean lot of worse will just fold, but better ones will not.

We have ok bluffcather - Qh - in case draw hits we have a draw.

On turn I call, river is a fold imo. Ax, flushes beat you. Sometimes he will have a bluff, but probably not that often at micros.

This is blind vs blind so I would expect villain to call a bit wider. We did 3bet pre so we have a lot of Ax hands in our range, we should have decent fold equity. Villain can have hands like T9s, JTs etc and there is a possible flush draw. So there are a lot of cards that we don't want to see. Imo we need to protect our hand.
Villain also has smaller pocket pairs and some draws in his range that he might call with so not all worse hands will fold necessarily.

And if we check behind OTF isn't it more difficult to play later streets? When hero checks here he is basically telling villain that "I don't have an ace or a flush draw" - so what is good villain going to do? =)

so what is good villain going to do?

tehre is no good villain at NL2
he will bet draws, aces.
And will bet for value on river, and x his bluffs.

Good player probably try to exploit us by bluffing 2 streets. Then this one of our top range and maybe we can call 2 streets. Or maybe even when he ocationally exploits by bluffing 2 streets, its not enough frequency, and so he will just not make money with his value hands cause we fold.

Its interesting what his bluff to value ratio has to be turn and river so we can bluffcatch with this 2 streets. How to calculate. I know how to calculate on river or on turn assuming he never bets river.

we should have decent fold equity.

but he will fold just worse hands, not better ones. So is there a big benefit?

If I assume I have good fold equity, then I bluff backdoor flushdaws and stuff which does not have sd value.

He might not fold all of the worse hands. T9 has OESD and JhTh has gutshot+FD. Maybe some pockets like 99 or TT will call too.
If we have enough fold equity to make cbetting autoprofit, I would rather do that than give free cards to his draw.

Checking might be just fine but since we are IP I prefer to bet small twice, hope villain either folds or calls with a weaker hand or a draw and then check behind OTR, rather than check flop and call turn when way ahead/way behind and then wonder if we should bluff catch OTR :)

I would make preflop 3bet a bit bigger (add 0,5-1BB). F is cbet. Turn is call (we have FD and villain might be bluffing). River is fold. Those bets are rarely bluffs.
