SB posts SB 0.5 BB, Hero posts BB 1 BB

Pre Flop: (pot: 1.5 BB) Hero has 7♣ A♠

fold, fold, fold, fold, SB raises to 3 BB, Hero calls 2 BB

Flop: (6 BB, 2 players) 8♣ 4♦ K♣
SB checks, Hero checks

Turn: (6 BB, 2 players) 7♥
SB checks,

Do you think I should make any sort of bet here to protect my pair? Like maybe 1/3 pot?

Do you think I should bluff river? If yes, which size?

Spoiler

Hero bets 1 BB, SB calls 1 BB

River: (8 BB, 2 players) 6♣
SB checks, Hero checks

SB shows T♣ T♦ (One Pair, Tens)
(Pre 72%, Flop 87%, Turn 89%)
Hero mucks 7♣ A♠ (One Pair, Sevens)
(Pre 28%, Flop 13%, Turn 11%)
SB wins 7.5 BB

Attack the bastard on the flop when it is obvious that he is not holding a strong hand.

I like your fighting attitude. In these spots, when they check, you think they are giving up more often than check-calling, as a default, or would that be a harmful generalisation?

You are IP so stabbing OTF is a decent option. I'm not sure how often it works against good players but I believe average NL2 player will fold too much there.
As played I would bet OTT. Preferably a bit bigger than 1bb :)
Overall you played this hand fine.

I believe they would give up often enough. If not otf, then on a second barrel on most turn cards.
