Only 1 hand on Villain 1 and 6 hands on Villain 2 so not much to go on.

Poker Stars, $0.01/$0.02 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 6 Players
Poker Tools Powered By Holdem Manager - The Ultimate Poker Software Suite.

SB: $2.11 (105.5 bb)
BB: $2.01 (100.5 bb)
UTG: $3.63 (181.5 bb)
MP: $1.64 (82 bb)
Hero (CO): $2.57 (128.5 bb)
BTN: $1.32 (66 bb)

Preflop: Hero is CO with A♣: A♠:
UTG folds, MP calls $0.02, Hero raises to $0.10, BTN calls $0.10, 2 folds, MP calls $0.08

Flop: ($0.33) 6♣: 6♦: 5♥: (3 players)
MP bets $0.02, Hero raises to $0.16, BTN calls $0.16, MP calls $0.14

Turn: ($0.81) 4♠: (3 players)
MP checks, Hero checks, BTN bets $1.06 and is all-in, MP calls $1.06, Hero folds

My thinking:
It start as a limp pot so MP could be holding anything when he calls the pre flop raise.
I raise the flop thinking "if got a 6 good for him" can always cool off the betting a bit later. But then both call.
Turn completes a straight, even though calling with 78 or 23 to the flop raise is pretty loose.
Maybe I shouldn't have checked? Too scared of the straight or trips or even pocket 44 or pocket 55 for a full house?
BTN then snaps all-in. MP calls. So now I am thinking how can he call with nothing?
If they have the set I have 2 outs. If full house 2 outs. If they have the straight I am dead.

Thoughts?

I dont think they will have that in their range.
I bet the Turn also. As you play I call the shove from the BU.

The MP I think he is just a huge fish, he can have a 6 sometimes but i really think he just have a random hand.

Buton I think he will play like that an Over Pair. 55 will not play like that on the Turn.

I don't like the raise OTF very much. One guy limped and this is multiway, one of them can easily have a strong hand and by raising OTF you pretty much isolate yourself against tighter range.
OTT when BTN goes all-in and MP calls, I really think one of them has a strong hand. So folding is good.

BTW: against a straight you are not dead. You still have outs.
If they have 6x, you have 2 outs. If they have 44 or 55 you have 4 outs since any 6 will give you higher full house too, same against a straight.

On flop villain min bet and we make it half pot, so nothing that wrong here. We can get calls not only from 6x,55...
OTT with all that action in front - we can fold.

Think part of it was my mental state at the time as had crashed AA into 2 low sets in the last 300 hands or so.

Did MP just had a random hand ?

Seems that Snowie agrees, and looks like a big EV difference. However I think vs NL2 players it might be closer due to some of them being crazy, have seen a cold 42s all in on today already :f_o:

For those interested;

$2.93 pot ($0.10 rake)
Final Board: 6♣: 6♦: 5♥: 4♠: J♠:
MP showed 8♠: 8♥: and lost (-$1.32 net)
Hero mucked A♣: A♠: and lost (-$0.26 net)
BTN showed K♦: K♣: and won $2.83 ($1.51 net)

Sorry I misread villains flop betsize, raising is ok there.
OTT I'm still not sure if calling is the best move since I think a jam and a call usually means that overpairs are not good enough. But fish at NL2 seem to be extremely fishy.

Yea, the 88 guy has been marked. I think the hardest part is spotting them when I can make the profit. Like I said I had ran AA into trip 6 previously in the session by raising all in on a similar board, and this time the guy wasn't messing about. But the best learning tool is a mistake :f_biggrin:

This guy limped and called, that's a perfect excuse to bet all the way to the showdown

I think this hand is easy.

Flop: Raise (slightly bigger)!
Treat the min-bet as a check. A real bet would be different.

Turn: Bet!
MP checked, so he probably don't have anything. Sure, the button may have a straight or be slowplaying trips, but you can never win a big pot unless you are willing to lose a few big pots as well. Note that the button started with 66 bb, and while losing 100 bb routinely with AA overpairs is questionable, losing 66 bb with this betting pattern is (I hate the word) "standard".

After a turn bet (if not all in) you are committed.

Betting sounds like it makes sense to me, as maybe then BTN wouldn't have gone all-in. Only problem is I still wouldn't know where I was by the river as he might just have flatted the straight or set. Then on river would probably be all in again anyway.

Is what Snowie thinks of the check on the turn, but looking over the hand again I think betting the turn would have been better against the NL2 population.

Certainly. Snowie is working under the assumption that opponents are good and also under the assumption that Snowie is good. Did you, by the way, insert the stack sizes? This is important since you'd play the hand very differently when deep.

Yea it had the exact stack sizes as I imported the hand.

And yea on the Snowie assumptions, I try to take it with a pinch of salt.

On the flop bet more, around 0.20$. Reason for doing so is to get more value out of you're opponents who're drawing, to get value from smaller overpairs, and to protect you're hand from random trashy overcards (KQ ect.)
its a bad turn for us, but nevertheless you can get value from hands like small overpairs, random draws, perhaps even 4x hands
So bet/fold on the turn would be fine.
