5 stacks in one session is just hurting my soul, set over set, AA cracked by a set (same guy btw. QQ vs KK over pair guess which end of that I was. two other coolers and all the little bits of money I had earned I tilted off in a tp tk against a fish which if I stopped for a second should have known but I had been trying to get into a pot with him for so long even that was on 3/4 of a stack. it honestly just wasn't fair, I just couldn't get it in with the best even with cracking hands.

Fumming!!!! now I took my money out in anger and gonna take a few days to calm down, still angry with myself or the whole night!!! then i put my money into another site that now ive calmed down don't want. and now I'm having trouble getting the money out... need to get some rake first. fumming!!!!

Hi dragonste,

That is a familiar feeling. There are some sessions that I have lost even more than just 5 bin, and it is very tilting.
The best way to recover is to take a break and then try to forget that you lost so much. Then just continue playing and build your bankroll back.

If you have tilt problems often, I suggest you read The Mental Game of Poker 1&2. Mental game is very important.

Hi,

been there also alot of times and its frustrating, what helps me is to think if i did good or bad decisions and dont look so much at results, i think if you over the time makes more good then bad decisions you will be a winning player, bad beats, setups coolers downswings is part of the game and you will sometimes have them, i also recommened you to work on your mental game as this is in my eyes one of the most important areas to be good in if you want to be succesfull.

Good luck

Hi guys,

Variance can catch anybody.

Maybe some stop loss limit would help you.

finally got my money out so I'm gonna wait for it all to come though and then put money back into star and work on my game slowly and not expect to win millions in months.
I got $10 to 150 in a month and 10 days, that's why the 5 stakes hurt me so much, its days and days of work gone in 2-3 hours. that's what hurts the most I think, hard to gain easy to lose.

15 buyins is pretty loose BRM. especially if losing 1/3rd is making you withdraw your money. Not good for the mindstate

I usually go with 20 minimum.

It's good to know that I am not alone when the dark side takes over our mind-set during a bad run of cards. Just use a solid bankroll management strategy and play your A-game. You will have good days and bad days. Some bad days can go on and on and on, but the flipside is that if you are a + EV player, the good days will return and you will recover your losses and more to boot.

I'd recommend getting tilt breaker. I have the free trial version, and will be getting the full version when that runs out for sure. For example today I hit 3 coolers within 15 hands each for a full BI each. Usually this would send me into a spiralling spew fest which would normally end up with me having no BR left. However I had tilt breaker set up so if I lost 3BIs from the peak of my session it would lock me out of pokerstars for 1 hour. So now even though I am feeling pretty tilted I can't do any more damage. I also have it lock me out for 5 mins every 55 mins, and if I lose 6BI in one day it locks me out for the day.

Now I just need to stop making such stupid calls in other spots and I might actually start improving ::f_mad:

that tilt breaker sounds fantastic, ill go find that.

also I have found another version of tilt that gets to me, when playing and there is a fish on the table and I just cannot get into a hand or winning hand with him, when you know TP is good enough to get it all in with him and I cant even make a pair with him, or get fantastic hands and I'm wishing he has just one pair and he folds because his trash is worse than trash... that winds me up aswel. I didn't even know but I seem to get pissed and play any two cards with him then, throwing money all over the table to get into a hand with the fish. patients!!!!

I have had the same problem. Playing with fish is extremely annoying when you can't beat them. But you just have to keep playing good poker and don't change your game too much. You just have to wait for the right spot and accept that it might take a long time to get all of his money. If you start playing any 2 against him, it will often end badly.

it often does end badly, I then become the fish Haha. annoying ay! I hate not getting a good against them is deadly
eating them up on days, drowning on others

I know 15 is pretty loose brm but I wanna move up pretty fast, and I know I can win and play, I wanted to get to nl10 fast and stay on there until 20 - 25 bi of 25nl and then ill be staying for a while and work my way up properly. but nl5 is just a warm up for me I am crushing nl5 at 18BB/100 and was crushing nl10 at 10 plus but then a that $50 loss knocked it down too 2BB/100 which upsets me even more is that it shows on record that I played bad or got a bad run of cards

ive got that tolt break mate, its good. I'm gonna be keep using it from now on I think.
its got a few things that I like, the not checking cashier is a good one aswel, and the fact it keeps you off the table for a predetermined amount of time is brilliant.

cheers

yeah I have wrote down a few things for myself to do.
walk away the fish will be there another day,
I am only limiting myself to 1.5 hours a session before an hours break I have realized that's when I start making really stupid moves and cant calculate much or I don't bother, boredom at that point. patients is my number one, its what I didn't have 10 years ago and kept losing my bankroll now I have more, but still it can run out. haha

I know coolers happen, but how do people find the motivation to get past them? I had slowly made a profit in a session slowly chipping away, then near the end I get top boat AAA22 only to get coolered by quad 2s and lose all the profit that had taken so much longer to win then it had to lose. Making all the time spent playing pointless as I hadn't gotten anywhere.

You are not forced to find the motivation and play. I guess finding motivation after such negative sessions is actually part of skill set that winning poker player has to have. Also mentioning the cooler ... now it happened to you next time you gonna cooler some1. It is about putting enough volume in so such unimportant hand like this negate itself in the long run :)

Just take a break playing poker for the mean time. Anger or being frustrated wont do any good with your playing. You would just keep on losing if you play again.
